#Travel Channel to air 12-hour road trip live, viewers set to photobomb it mercilessly - News - TV - Radio - The Independent The Travel Channel is to provide a calmer alternative to bargain shopping on Black Friday, by screening a live 12-hour road trip through rural America. The event will be called Slow Road Live, getting its name from the Slow TV phenomenon that is sweeping Norway. Interestingly arriving at the time marijuana was decriminalised in the country, seven-hour train rides and 134-hour real-time cruises were watched by Norwegians in their millions. The Travel Channel has promised to announce the route of the trip prior to broadcast, which could be disastrous. Even if the road trip takes place out in the Arizona desert, I wouldn't put it past viewers to make the trip out there just for the opportunity to flash their genitals on national television. While everyone else is out hustling and bustling to get the latest deals on Black Friday, we’re giving our viewers a chance to unwind with 12 hours of reality in real time, said Travel Channel SVP of programming and development Ross Babbit. This live programming event will get everyone together to simply enjoy the stunning, beautiful scenery and realize the only big character in this show is the world around us.
