#Cuba - Lonely Planet
Timeworn but magnificent, dilapidated but dignified, fun yet maddeningly frustrating; Cuba is a country of indefinable magic.
Mildewed Magnificence
Cuba is like a prince in a poor man’s coat; behind the sometimes shabby facades, gold dust lingers. It’s these rich dichotomies that make travel here the exciting, exhilarating roller-coaster ride it is. Trapped in a time warp and reeling from an economic embargo that has grated for more than half a century, this is a country where you can wave goodbye to Western certainties and expect the unexpected. If Cuba were a book, it would be James Joyce's Ulysses; layered, hard to grasp, serially misunderstood, but – above all – a classic.
Historical Heritage
Meticulously preserved, Cuba’s colonial cities haven’t changed much since musket-toting pirates stalked the Caribbean. The atmosphere and architecture is particularly stirring in the Unesco-listed cities – Havana, Trinidad,

#Cuba Travel
Able to both confound and exceed expectations in equal measure, Cuba is an endlessly fascinating place. The archetypal tableau of revolutionary rhetoric, breathtaking beaches, classic cars gliding past faded colonial buildings and a population who dance on an endless ribbon of salsa and rum does of course exist, but for those prepared to dig beneath the dazzling surface, Cuba relinquishes so much more. Art Deco architecture peeks between the crumbling mansions; unobtrusive art galleries are filled with exciting contemporary art to rival the scenes of London, Los Angeles and New York; private restaurants hidden in backstreets throughout the country nudge Cuba towards the upper echelons of fine dining experiences; while a programme of arts festivals sees internationally renowned ballerinas, musicians and actors delight audiences for the modest reward of a state salary. Delve into the countryside and you’ll find cloudforests and mountain ranges, birdwatching trails ripe fo

#Find Overseas Travel Alerts
What You Need to Know
Travel alerts and warnings are maintained by the U.S. Department of State and are a resource for international travelers to consider for safe travel overseas.
Start Here
Travel Alerts are issued to disseminate information about short-term conditions, either transnational or within a particular country, that pose significant risks to the security of U.S. citizens. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, coups, anniversaries of terrorist events, election-related demonstrations or violence, and high-profile events such as international conferences or regional sports events are examples of conditions that might generate a Travel Alert.
Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable lead the State Department to recommend that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A Travel Warning is als

#Europe Travel Inspiration
When to visit Europe
The simple answer is that Europe is great all year round and when you visit totally depends on what type of trip you're after. In case you hadn't noticed, Europe is pretty bloomin' big so the weather can vary quite a bit from country to country. In winter time, parts of Europe are covered in a thick layer of snow and around the end of November/beginning of December, magical Christmas markets pop up all over the place. Head to Germany, Austria or Prague for a traditional European Christmas market experience. In summer time, the Greek Islands, Turkey, Croatia and the Med coast are glorious - you'll find endless stretches of sandy beaches to kick back and relax on. Plus there are loads of awesome European summer festivals (think Ultra, Hideout and EXIT to name a few) where you can throw some serious shapes as world-class DJs take to the decks. Prices tend to be highest in Europe at Christmas, Easter and during the school summer
