#TOM BIHN Forums Travel forums?backpack said: 05-08-2015 08:52 AM I think that the most important is to find a forum that is targeting one's travel interests. There is a great one for Italian travel that a member is always referring to. Another is for cruises. Make sure that there are more post from genuine travellers than ads. Be aware of postomercials (infomercials posts), many travel service providers have a less than stellar or even very tainted reputation. In cyberspace, news travel fast. To counter any negative testimonies, people are paid to log in with different user names and write glowing review of the service in question. Lower budget operations, such as hotels have their staff write testimomy on rewiew sites. I fell for one of those scams, when I stayed at the place, I was able to match the personality of each staff member I encountered with the style of each good review, needless to say, I took the advantage of that knowledge to cut my stay short. I would take forums in review sites such as Tripadvisors with a grain of salt or a pound of scepticism. It always pays to cross check reviews, in different forums; use the name of the service in a search engine to uncover blogs and social media posts. States, regional and cities tourism offices promote businesses in the most flattering light, however, a quick check at forums geared toward pet owners, seniors or LGBT visitors may reveal more of an Hitchcock experience than a Fantasy Island trip.
