Once you have selected a Study Abroad program, it's easy to apply. UM students should follow the steps below.

Be sure you meet the program requirements. All applicants must:

Be at least 18 years old

Be in academic and disciplinary good standing

Have a minimum 2.5 GPA

Some programs have additional requirements. Check your program's web page or contact your Study Abroad Advisor for more information.

Complete and submit a Study Abroad Application and related paperwork. Ole Miss students can apply online through MyOleMiss. Log on using your student ID and select Study Abroad Application from the drop-down menu.

The following materials are required in order to apply for a Study Abroad program:

Study Abroad Application

    • Select the appropriate application for your program:

Faculty-Led Study Abroad Application: Used when a UM faculty member is traveling with students and assessing final grades.

Exchange or Affiliate Program Study Abroad Application: Used for any other program sponsored by the Study Abroad Office.

Unofficial UM Transcript (can be downloaded from my.olemiss.edu)

    Copy of Passport

Some programs require additional materials. Check your program's web page or contact your Study Abroad Advisor for more information.

Each student is required to complete a Course Approval Form. This form is an agreement between you, campus departments, your dean, and the Study Abroad Office to grant credit for your time abroad. This form is part of your Study Abroad Application.

Once your application has been submitted through my.olemiss.edu, you must set up a meeting with the appropriate study abroad advisor by calling 662-915-1508 to make an appointment to complete your application. After this meeting, your application will be reviewed, and you will be notified of your status by your study abroad advisor. Most notifications are made by e-mail so it's important to check your @go.olemiss.edu e-mail address often.

Before the end of the semester you will be required to complete two orientations. The first orientation is offered online and takes about 45 minutes to complete. You will be notified by e-mail when this orientation opens. The second orientation is on campus and will cover information particular to your program. The time and date of this orientation will be announced by e-mail prior to the application deadline and posted online.

Be sure to begin the process as early as possible. General deadlines and events for upcoming terms are:
