Previously I mentioned that I managed to bag super affordable tickets to Paris, thanks to a flight comparison website.

There are a couple of sites offering the same service, but the mother of all flight comparison websites has got to be Momondo. It not only compares airfares from many different airlines, it also saves your time but helping  you compare deals from other flight comparison websites.

Budget travelers, you will love this. Let me show you how it works.

Okay, assuming that I m planning to go to Paris for a week or less, earlier in October. I don t have the exact dates for the trip yet, but my dates are flexible (as long as it s within the first two weeks of the month). My main priority is getting the most affordable tickets for the trip!

On the homepage of the website, I keyed in the details and clicked search flights.

Once the site s searched for all available flights, on top of the page, these bars will appear.

The height of the blue bars reflects the cost of the Outbound and Return tickets. The higher it is, the more expensive the tickets is; while the lower it is, the more affordable the ticket is.

The yellow bars show the dates I ve searched for earlier. Between 1st to the 14th of October, you can see when are the best times to go and to return. Just click on the lowest bar for each category. Each time your mouse hovers on the bars, the lowest ticket price available for the date will show.

In my case, the cheapest Outbound flight ticket is available on the 5th of October.

While the cheapest Return flight ticket is available on the 12th of October.

Perfect!

Now I click both the lowest Outbound bar (5th October) and lowest Return bar (12th October) and then click search these days .

It says that that the estimated price per adult is €518. But be patient and let the engine do its job.

Once the search is complete, on top of the results, you ll see different tabs to filter results according to your needs. I choose to see the cheapest tickets around.

There you go, the cheapest ticket on the dates I ve chosen is from Qatar Airways, at €462 if purchased through airtickets.com. Although this particular flight requires a single stopover at Abu Dhabi for two hours, that s actually not bad a trade-off.

Considering this is for a ticket to Paris, it s super cheap!

Once you click Select , Momondo will direct me to airtickets.com for the purchase. Fill in your details and you ll get a confirmation email soon after. Very easy.

If you re planning a trip, I suggest you start fooling around with the search engine and its filtering features months before and be on the lookout for the best dates for your trip or if you have the exact dates, to sign up for their Fare Alert so that you ll be notified when cheap tickets are available on the dates.

If you re alert enough, you might just get return ticket to the city for less than €400. Like I did.
