For some reason Vietnam Airlines are only available on the US site though, so travellers from outside the USA will need to make their purchase in US Dollars.

Travelling in Italy

Once in Italy, trains, automobiles, and to some extent coaches and buses, can be used to get around.

The railway system is good and inexpensive. Owned by the state, it’s called Ferrovie dello Stato (abbreviated FS), but trains are operated under the  brand name "Trenitalia". Most trains carry  first  and second class.  First class seats often recline, there are fewer seats per car, and there is more space for luggage. On some Premier Trains, the price of a first class ticket includes a meal. Second class accommodations are less expensive, but not as spacious, as there are more seats per car.  Seat reservation is now compulsory on faster trains (i.e. Eurostar, EuroStarCity, and InterCity).  On other, slower categories of trains (Regionale, Suburbano) it is not possible to reserve seats.  Purchase your train ticket before getting on the train, and stamp it before boarding at one of those small yellow machines on platforms.  Traveli ... It is a land like no other in the world…

There are many reasons why adventurers of all types travel to Antarctica. Most of us are inspired by the opportunity to experience unique wildlife—penguins, seals, whales—going about their lives in a pristine, natural setting far from civilization. Set against a backdrop of ethereal icescapes, towering mountains and calving glaciers, these species beckon visitors to the northward-jutting Antarctic Peninsula and its adjacent islands – “ground zero” for Poseidon’s Antarctic expeditions.

Other travelers come to see this frozen land as the giant laboratory it’s become, where science and international cooperation have created a “natural reserve, devoted to peace and science,” according to the Antarctic Treaty System that governs the continent. Changes in the global climate play out here in dramatic fashion, and an Antarctic tour provides a unique opportunity to learn first-hand the dynamics at work, and how t ... Read more »

Patagonia

Travel to Patagonia in the southern reaches of South America. Patagonia is a region that stands as the very definition of wildness: massive, granite horns thrust from the ground and painted by the sun; fields of ice and glaciers as old as time; and forests and lakes that dwarf those who visit this distant land. International Expeditions’ Patagonia tour takes in this land’s most stunning, landscapes, culture and wildlife. Shining as the crowning jewel in this glittering land is Torres del Paine National Park, internationally renowned as one of the most beautiful, unspoiled and remote places on the planet. This gem is like a separate country perched at the edge of a great continent — brimming with wildlife, dazzling landscapes and activities that are uniquely Torres del Paine.

Travel To Antarctica

Recently, I had a transition period between my jobs. I’m a travelling freak. Not a regular type, but in fact, I like to visit places that are somewhat inaccessible for a common man, or you can say places which are taboo to a majority of people. Some friends of mine had recently travelled to Antarctica and they told me about the magnificence of Antarctica. I decided to take advantage of my free time and planned a trip to Antarctica. And I have to admit, I did nothing wrong in paying a visit to this amazing place. In fact, my Antarctica travel was one of the best trips I ever had in my life. I went there with my wife and kids. Believe me, no place on this earth can be compared to this immeasurable land of white wilderness. Rocks, Water, Ice, Polar Beers, Seals, and Penguins … Welcome to Antarctica!!

Here's information on the types of trips permitted by U.S. law; the paperwork Americans need to travel to Cuba; recommended health precautions; getting there; currency; and what Americans can bring back:

Destination Description

Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest, and most isolated continent on Earth. The extreme climate limits the presence and activities of humans in Antarctica. The persistent cold (even during the austral summer), the limited precipitation (which qualifies much of the continent as frozen desert), the frequent overcast skies, the severe winds, and the succession of storms over the ocean and coastal areas help explain why Antarctica is the only continent that has never had a native human population.

Although seven countries (Argentina, Australia, Chile, France, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom) maintain claims to territory in Antarctica, the United States and most other countries do not recognize those claims. Governance of the continent is managed th ... Read more »

Traveling to Europe with Young Children

On our last trip to Europe, our extended family faced many unique challenges while traveling with young children. Our entourage included a five-month-old infant, a two-year-old toddler, and a four-year-old preschooler. From finding family-friendly accommodations to surviving long international flights, check out these helpful tips for families traveling abroad with youngsters.

Our extended family waits for international flight

Whether you’re planning a trip to Europe with your immediate or extended family, be sure all the children in your group have valid passports, regardless of age. Most US airlines allow children under two years old to fly free on domestic flights if seated on an adult family member’s lap (known as a lap infant or an infant in arms) but for international flights you must purchase a lap infant ticket. Lap infant tickets are typically 10% of the adult’s fare and usually inclu ... Read more »

A rare gem of country music

The History of the Traveling Wilburys

    Introduction by Mo Ostin

The birth of the Traveling Wilburys was a happy accident. Warner Bros. Records' International Department had asked that George Harrison come up with a B-side for This Is Love, a single from his Cloud Nine album. At the time it was customary to couple an A-side with a never-before-heard track, giving the single extra sales value.

This was mid-1988. Cloud Nine was just out. George, along with cowriter Jeff Lynne and their friends Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison, had been hanging out in Dylan's studio. I suppose George figured that as long as his pals were on hand, why not use them to knock off this flipside?

A couple of days later George came by my office to play the new B-side. We went next door to A Hugh Jampton, E.F. Norti-Bitz Reader in Applied Jacket, Un ... Read more »

    browse poems poets

On April 7, 1770, William Wordsworth was born in Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. Wordsworth's mother died when he was eight—this experience shapes much of his later work. Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammar School, where his love of poetry was firmly established and, it is believed, he made his first attempts at verse. While he was at Hawkshead, Wordsworth's father died leaving him and his four siblings orphans. After Hawkshead, Wordsworth studied at St. John's College in Cambridge and before his final semester, he set out on a walking tour of Europe, an experience that influenced both his poetry and his political sensibilities. While touring Europe, Wordsworth came into contact with the French Revolution. This experience as well as a subsequent period living in France, brought about Wordsworth's interest and sympathy for the life, troubles, and speech of the "common man." These issues proved to be of the utmost importance to Wordsworth's wo ... Read more »

    TRAVELLING

As for me I prefer to learn about the world travelling.

Millions people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene. It's always interesting to discover new things and different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different music.

Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. City residents usually like a quiet holiday by the sea and in the mountains with nothing to do but walk and bathe and lay in the sun. Most travelers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interest them - the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plain ... travel

The word travel has come to exemplify a common spelling quandary: to double or not to double the final consonant of a verb before adding the ending that forms the past tense ( –ed ) or the ending that forms the present-participle ( –ing. ) We see it done both ways—sometimes with the same word ( travel, traveled, traveling; travel, travelled, travelling ). As readers, we accept these variations without even thinking about them. But as writers, we need to know just when we should double that final consonant and when we should not. Because American practice differs slightly from British practice, there is no one answer. But there are well-established conventions.

In American writing, when you have a one-syllable verb that ends with a single vowel followed by a single consonant, and you want to add a regular inflectional ending that begins with a vowel, you double that final consonant before adding -ed or -ing. stop, stopped, stopping; flag, flagged, ... Travelling in Greece 2013

Turkey boasts seven cities with populations over one million. Istanbul is the largest, and it is often-incorrectly-regarded as the capital of Turkey. Istanbul stands on the threshold of Europe and Asia, and the former capital of the Byzantine Empire is well connected to both continents.
