TravelPro or Samsonite? Need new luggage fast!

Travelpro was the worst luggage I have ever had in 30 years of air travel i can hardly understand the prices charged given the quality.

I got a new top of the range cabin roller Travelpro in 2011 as a replacement to a badly damaged cabin luggage I had to check in due to an overcrowded flight.

I used the bag on a weekly basis for business travel (cabin only) for about six months and then as a carrier bag for my weekly commuting across Europe (driving this time, so practically no rolling…

I had a break from flights between July 2012 to October 2013 and the Travelpro came handy for my weekly flights.

In February 2014 I started to have issues with the wheels (they blocked randomly) and I suspected the ball bearings must be dirty and oiled the inner part of the wheels (accessible).

In August 2014 one wheel broke loose (. ) and I contacted in September Travelpro for assistance. I had lovely replies with no solutions (I was told Travelpro could send me wheels from…another model that may eventually not match the bag. ) and I was told that the wheels are not covered by what Travelpro calls Lifetime Warranty . I finally checked if this was the case just to discover that this was entirely not true: the warranty stated that wear and tear were not covered by warranty (fair enough), but there is not a word of a disclaimer of liability about a material flaw. Doesn’t matter, Customer Service rejected any assistance.

Other shabby quality remarks: The main zipper pull (the ascending pull - hence the most useful) broke, the telescopic handle wobbles and rattles and the fabric with the proudly advertised 200,000 diens is extremely sensitive to scratches.

Let aside that, the luggage is still in pristine condition best now to be used as a storage box. a 200 $ storage box on a wheel and on a prayer.

i will provide the pics to anyone interested (the luggage was not abused or mishandled).

My suggestion: pick any bag with good solid two-wheels and firm handle and smooth zippers and METAL zipper pulls i.e. Samsonite, AT, Delsey, Antler, etc, etc (the four-wheeler are just a waste of space and most likely prone to be broken if ever your luggage will be checked in).
