#Cheap Ways to Travel Across Europe
September 13, 2012 / By NomadicMatt
Even with the falling Euro, traveling around Europe can still be fairly expensive, especially if you are traveling long distances or miss out on that killer fare from Ryanair. I sometimes get sick to my stomach at how much transportation can cost even for the shortest distances. But, despite the high valued Euro, high transportation costs, and general expensiveness of Europe, there are still many ways to travel around Europe affordably:
Megabus
Megabus is a cheap way to get around the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales), as tickets can cost as little as 1.50 USD. You ll need to book at least a month in advance on popular routes to get these fares (and even if you don’t scoop up these amazingly cheap deals, you can still travel for a more reasonable price than on the national bus system as fares rarely top 15 USD). Additionally, Megabus also operates trains to some destinations aro

#Cheapest Days to Fly and Best Time to Buy Airline Tickets
Editor s note: We updated this popular post in 2015 with new and easy-to-use information. One thing that hasn t changed is these tips still help save money every time you shop for airfare.
Update: Summer, Holiday, Peak Travel Tips
Three quick tips to save time and money during the busiest travel days of the year.
- Get to the airport early: If flying during any peak season (particularly June, July or August) get to the airport anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours earlier than normal. Do this! Airport lines will be long and if you aren t at the gate before the aircraft door closes, you will not be flying.
- Keep an eye on the weather: Summer weather can be much worse than winter. Thunderstorms delay flights more often than snowstorms so be aware and know what to do if your flight is cancelled or delayed .

Christmas travel packages are often the sole reason many people are able to take a family vacation at Christmas. They allow you to save money on transportation, accommodations, and amenities, and many families are especially fond of them as they ensure a stress-free vacation once you arrive at your destination. There are options for Christmas vacation deals all over the world, including the sunny tropical resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico. the snow-capped Alps and Pyrenees in Europe, luxurious ski resorts in the US and Canada, and even the exotic beach destinations in Asia.
For many families, the best Christmas vacation package is one that includes time at the beach, and for that, the Caribbean and Mexico often have the best deals, and even access to all inclusive resorts. It's all joyous news to us in the U.S. as travel restrictions recently lessened -- travelers no longer need licenses to visit Cuba. though they still must belong in one of 12 categories like "academics" or "family members."

Welcome to Vietnam!
Every time someone leaves Vietnam, nothing but great thoughts and experiences is what we hear. More than once our travelers let us know how much they love this country and the people that live in it. Vietnam has it all, and spending some days in the land of dragons and limestone mountains is always an experience and an unforgettable journey.
Apart from the highlights that Vietnam has to offer, the best part of this country is to be out on the streets. Walking around Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Ho Chi Minh City’s Ben Than Market, Sapa’s terraces, Hoi An town, and trekking Vietnam’s numerous National Parks is what makes this country special. The really authentic experience is to go where the local community spends their daily life every day and this is what we at Khiri Travel Vietnam want to offer every traveler.

#Documents Needed for Travel
Bringing the proper identification to the airport will help with an efficient identity screening and check-in process.
In addition, the name on your identification must match the name on your airline reservation or boarding pass. Small differences such as the use of a middle initial instead of a full middle name or no middle name at all, or hyphens and apostrophes, should not cause significant issues.
Required Documents for Domestic Travel
According to the Identity Screening Regulations, the required identification to take a domestic flight is:
- one piece of valid government-issued photo identification that shows the holder's name, date of birth and gender;
- two pieces of valid government-issued identification, at least one of which shows the holder's name, date of birth and gender; or
- a restricted area identity card.

#Cruising for Car Rental Deals
Cruising for Car Rental Deals
On a recent four-day trip to a small regional airport in New England, I had two choices for my car rental: Avis and Hertz. But knowing my options didn't help me find a good price -- at least not right away. One major booking site quoted me $75 and $55 per day respectively, while a name-your-price site couldn't get me under $35 a day.
My situation isn't an unusual one; car rental deals can be notoriously hard to find, especially if you're only searching in a few places. However, doing some more intensive comparison shopping can offer some of the greatest and most sensible savings available to the average traveler. Because brand and name recognition don't matter too much when you're renting a car -- a Hyundai two-door is a Hyundai two-door, whether you rent it from Avis, Orbitz or Enterprise -- it's easy to keep your options open and increase your chances of getting a good deal.
If you're willing to

#Dream Job: How To Become A Luxury Travel Advisor
Working in the travel industry, people frequently confide in me that they have always dreamt of traveling the world for a living. For most, it’s a fleeting dream during a moment of hatred at their current jobs, something they would never actually figure out a way to do. But for others, the dream is real and more importantly, they have the drive to make it happen. One way to do it is to become a luxury travel advisor and they come from all business sectors: law, finance, beauty, fashion, media, education, and more. It is a job that Oprah featured as one of the “happiest jobs in America.”
Do you dream of making travel your job?
The growth in travel and tourism outpaces any other sector, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce, with a 7.2% growth rate and thousands of new jobs. But it wasn’t until I was at Virtuoso Travel Week surrounded by top luxury travel advisors and suppliers that I realized there is the poss

#Europe Travel Deals: With Euro Weakening, Americans Can Travel For Cheap As Dollar Exchange Rate Drops
The dropping euro and a more valuable dollar mean that Americans can get more euros to spend on what's most important: European beer. Reuters/Ints Kalnins
Seeing the Mona Lisa is a better deal now than it has been years. Americans and other foreigners can expect to land cheap trips to continental Europe over the next few months after the euro hit its lowest since March 2006 on Monday. That means Americans could get hundreds of more euros for their dollars than they did just a year ago, according to travel professionals.
“The euro is down about 10 percent to 15 percent from where it was most of 2014, so it's an instant discount for those of us with U.S. dollars,” said Roger Wade, founder of Price of Travel. “Many analysts are expecting the euro to continue going lower, at least in the short term, and if Greece effectively votes itself out of the euro soon, it could

#Everything You Need to Know About Getting to Antarctica
Snagging a trip to Antarctica has never been so simple. Still, it's one of the trickiest places in the world to visit. Here are the five ways to get there.
Share Tweet Email
It used to be that traveling to Antarctica meant playing Russian roulette with your life. Tourism to the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth started in earnest in the 1950s, but even 15 years ago, getting there was a challenge. These days, trips to the continent can be tackled with (relative) ease. Just look at the numbers last year, 37,405 visitors made the trip south, compared with 10,000 in 1999 and zero in 1914.
Still, it s the most remote and forbidding stretch of wilderness in the world, exponentially more difficult to reach than nearly every other landmass. You ll need a permit and you'll have to follow the Antarctic Conservation Act. which prohibits tampering with the ecosystem in any way. I ve been to Antarctica

#Five Best Travel Planning Apps
Whether you're hitting the road or taking to the skies this travel season, you could do with a digital companion to help you plan your itinerary, make sure your tickets and connections are all lined up, and that you have plenty of time to do everything you want (or need) to do while you're traveling. This week, we're looking at five of the best travel planning apps or services, based on your nominations.
Earlier in the week we asked you which travel planning apps or services were the best. Keep in mind we're talking about travel planning. not travel booking. so the apps that can help you find a good deal and land a great price may not be the same apps as the ones that will show you all of your flight details, make sure you'll make your connection, help you dig out your rental car confirmation number, and so on. Without further ado, here's what you suggested, in no particular order:

#Europe’s Book Travelers
If nobody had read to me the ‘Aesop’s Fables’ and the ‘Arabian Nights’, even before I went to school, I wouldn’t have expected a world full of danger and opportunity. If later, when I was 8 or 9, I hadn’t read ‘The Little Prince’, I wouldn’t have learnt that I could be friends with a fox. And then, without ‘Gulliver’s Travels’, ‘Ivanhoe’, ‘A Christmas Carol’, ‘Through the Looking Glass’, ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’, I fear that my imagination, as a contemporary city child, would have remained stagnant and poor.
And then, I wouldn’t have the urge to read the ancient Greeks, Dante, Boccaccio, Balzac, Camus, Cervantes, Dostoevsky, Flaubert, Kafka, Marquez, Proust, Melville, Orwell, even Marx and Keynes and so many more.
The books that I have read have shaped me and made me the person I am today. They taught me about freedom and democracy, friendship and love, war and peace and made me curious and studious.

#Finding the cheapest train tickets - Cheap Fares.
Tips on finding cheap train tickets
There are many great deals on train fares around, and you can track down cheap train tickets and low-cost fares by following some simple methods.
Getting the best deals
Cheap train fares are quota controlled by train operators, meaning that on long distance train journeys or intercity travel there will often be many different levels of cheap train fares or discounted train fares available.
These cheap fares are usually released by train operators around 12 weeks in advance of the journey, and are then managed on a regular basis by the company to control demand. This can sometimes mean increasing the quotas on trains or reducing them, which can make ticket prices rise.
If you know your travel dates, it's a good idea to start searching for travel tickets as soon as you can, to see what's available. If you can commit to a date early for your journey, you're

#Fishing in Iceland - Fly Fishing in Iceland - Iceland Angling Travel
Written by Stjani. Posted in News.
Last year we took a group to the Thvera River for some early season salmon fishing for 4 days from June 16. - 20. We got some difficult days and the season turned out to be below average. This year we made the same trip to the same river and what a different trip it was making us really optimistic for the upcoming season.
This year we had a group of 10 German and Swiss anglers sharing 8 rods in total. We fished the Thvera River and the Brenna beat which is the lowest part of the Thvera. In 4 days the group landed 43 salmon, compared to 17 last year. Of the 43 salmon landed there were 32 MSW's and 11 grilse. We caught fish in all the beats and had many on the hitch. We also lost about 50 salmon as the takes were fierce and violent as per usual with fresh run salmon.
Overall we had a great time, had some wonderful food and enjoyed life at the wonderful Thve

The following year, I took another cross country drive with my completely new smartphone and I became phenomenally dependent on seeing that little orange dot squeak along the road. Year after year technology determined the way I owned and how I documented the things I noticed.
