How do I book a flight online?

To book a flight online, click the Flights tab in the navigation bar at the top of the page or search using the flight search box in the upper left-hand corner of the home page. Enter the required information, then click the Search flights button. After you have booked your flight, Ctrip will send you a booking confirmation email.

What if I miss my flight?

Contact us at 400 619 9999 (within Mainland China) or (86 21) 3210 4669 (from outside Mainland China) or consult the airline staff.

How do I cancel my flight reservation?

If your ticket has not yet been issued, you can cancel your flight reservation online by clicking on the My account tab located on the right-hand side of the navigation bar at the top of the page. Log in and select Orders. then Flights to see your flight order history. Click on the relevant order number to open the flight order detail page. Click the Cancel order button to cancel your reservation.

If your ticket has already been issued, you cannot cancel your order online. Please call us at 400 619 9999 (within Mainland China) or (86 21) 3210 4669 (from outside Mainland China).

How do I pay for my flight?

For international flight reservations, you may pay by credit card using our online system. For domestic flights, you can pay via credit card or PayPal.

However, PayPal payment is only available when booking a domestic flight departing more than 24 hours after the time of booking. We do not currently accept payment via debit card or cash.

What documentation do I need to present at the airport ticketing counter to get my boarding pass?

For domestic flights within Mainland China, you can check in at the airport counter by showing your passport or valid identification. You do not need to present an e-ticket to get your boarding pass. For flights to or from a destination outside Mainland China, you will need to contact the airline directly to confirm whether other documentation or information, such as an e-ticket number or visa, is necessary.

What is the difference between a full fare and a discounted fare?

Policies vary between airlines. Details are shown during the flight booking process.

Does Ctrip provide a receipt for proof of purchase?

If you would like proof of purchase for reimbursement, you may request an official stamped itinerary (xingchengdan, 行程单) when booking online. You can choose to have it mailed or delivered to an address in Mainland China. Alternatively, an official stamped itinerary can be picked up from Ctrip’s counters in some airports within Mainland China (airports with Ctrip counters will be displayed during the flight booking process and can be viewed here ). If you don’t request an official stamped itinerary during the booking process, you can still pick one up at a Ctrip airport counter.

Can I modify my ticket?

Tickets cannot be modified online once they have been issued. Please contact Ctrip by calling 400 619 9999 (within Mainland China) or (86 21) 3210 4669 (from outside Mainland China) to change your ticket. Ctrip does not charge a fee for changes made to flight reservations but individual airlines may charge a fee based on their policies.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my ticket?

If your ticket has not yet been issued, you will be refunded the cost of your ticket and you will not be charged a cancellation fee (except for group tickets with a prepaid deposit). For tickets that have already been issued, a cancellation fee might apply (this depends on the policy of the airline).

What if I submit my booking more than once?

If tickets for the same passenger have been issued due to repeat or overlapping bookings (including booking flights that depart on the same day), you will be responsible for any cancellation fees.

What is the ticket endorsement rule?

Only passengers purchasing full fare tickets are allowed to transfer between airlines. Airlines involved must also agree to this transfer.

How long after I submit my reservation will my ticket be issued?

Normally, tickets will be issued half an hour after you submit your flight reservation and have paid for your flight.

How do I know my reservation has been confirmed?

  • We will send you a confirmation email once your reservation has been submitted and received.
  • If you provide a Chinese mobile phone number, you will also receive a text message confirming your reservation.

Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, JCB and American Express.

How do I book tickets for children or infants online (domestic flights only)?

When booking your flight, select Adult , Child (2–12 years old) or Infant (14 days–2 years old) from the passenger type list. For each child or infant ticket purchased, an adult ticket must also be purchased on the same order. Any additional children or infants should be booked as adults. Fill in the required fields and submit the order.

Please note that our system currently only allows either children or infants to travel on the same reservation. If traveling with both infants and children in the same group, please make separate bookings with one adult passenger per child/infant. If you are traveling with more children/infants than adult passengers, you must book an adult ticket for each additional child/infant.

How do I book tickets for children or infants online (international flights only)?

To book infant tickets, call Ctrip at 400 619 9999 (within Mainland China) or (+86) 21 3210 4669 (from outside Mainland China).

Child tickets can be booked online but currently cannot be purchased in the same booking as adult tickets. Please book child tickets in a separate booking, or call Ctrip at 400 619 9999 (within Mainland China) or (+86) 21 3210 4669 (from outside Mainland China).

How far in advance can I book a flight?

You can book domestic flights 180 days in advance and international flights 365 days in advance. Tickets must be paid for to lock in the price quoted. Prices quoted for flights departing a month or more in the future are estimations based on previous trends in ticket pricing and, if not booked and paid for, must be confirmed closer to the departure date. Airline company scheduling is prone to change without much notice and discounted fares will also change accordingly. While Ctrip strives to provide the best discounts to its customers and update online ticket prices as quickly as possible, advertised discount prices are subject to change occasionally.

What is the free baggage allowance on flights?

For domestic flights, 40 kg (88 lb) per adult/child ticket is allowed in first class, 30 kg (66 lb) per adult/child ticket in business class and 20 kg (44 lb) per adult/child in economy class. Please refer to individual airline policies and regulations for free baggage allowance for infant tickets.

For international flights, rules regarding free baggage allowance vary by airline. Please refer to individual airline policies and regulations for confirmation.

Are there rules regarding liquid carry-on items on flights?

In general, liquid carry-on items are prohibited. Small amounts of liquid for personal use are allowed as follows: capacity of each item must not exceed 100 ml (3.4 oz); all items must be placed within a re-sealable transparent plastic bag of a maximum capacity not exceeding 1 L (33.8 oz); all items are subject to security checks. Passengers with infants may request directly from airlines at the time of ticket purchase that free liquid milk products be served on their flights. For details, please refer to individual airline policies and regulations.

What carry-on baggage rules apply to flights?

For domestic flights, in general carry-on baggage totaling 5 kg (11 lb) or less in weight per item per passenger may be brought on board free of charge. First class passengers are allowed two pieces of carry-on baggage. Business class and economy class passengers are allowed a maximum of one piece. Each piece shall not exceed 20 x 40 x 55 cm in size. Any carry-on items in excess of the abovementioned allowed number of pieces, size or weight shall be transported as checked baggage.
