#peregrine travel # Peregrine Adventures Tours of TurkeyI have just completed this tour and found Turkey a great place to visit. the standard of accommodation is generally good and the tour bus very comfortable with a safe driver. However the tour itself is subcontracted to a local tour company called Dijon and I found their guide very disappointing. He had not read the Peregrine trip notes and did his own thing really. This meant having long lunches over 1 hour in duration at charmless roadside service stations followed by very rapid tours through world heritage sites such as Troy. He seemed disinterested in the places we visited and when i asked him if we could have more time at the actual sites he was extremely rude. He wasted a lot of time with opinionated monologues about his view of history (frequently wrong) instead of just pointing out the best things to see. After lunch each day on the bus he would harangue us with his political views which for me was most unwelcome. The worst aspect was the time spent at shopping tourist traps, 4 in all: leather, carpets, jewellery and ceramics all with prices far exceeding local prices. So much for the Peregrine values of spending in the local community! There was no alternative offered to avoid these places. I would not recommend this tour instead why not go to Turkey and get your tours there? It s much cheaper and the itineraries are better. I hope this is of help. Geopelia
