Category Theory and Computer Science: 7th International Conference, CTCS 97, Santa Margherita Ligure Italy, September 4-6, 1997, Proceedings (Lecture Notes in Computer Science)

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Category Theory and Computer Science, CTCS 97, held in Santa Margheria Ligure, Italy, in September 1997.

Category theory attracts interest in the theoretical computer science community because of its ability to establish connections between different areas in computer science and mathematics and to provide a few generic principles for organizing mathematical theories. This book presents a selection of 15 revised full papers together with three invited contributions. The topics addressed include reasoning principles for types, rewriting, program semantics, and structuring of logical systems.

Street scene 街景 outside Sogo 百货, Taipei City 台北市

These shots, including those at Ximending, were taken on the night after my visit to Yangmingshan Shihlin Night Market.

My original plan was to visit Pacific Sogo immediately after Yangminshan (see more info below). However, I had missed Shihlin Night Market on Sunday due to fatigue pain in the foot. Not wanting to fly off the next day with regrets that I d missed the famous night market, I braced myself despite my tiredness.

After much food walking about in the rain with my impromptu, I was yet again tempted to return early to my hotel. However, my impromptu tour guide informed me about Sogo s 20% sales. Since it was still early evening, I said goodbye to my guide (she was initially contemplating going with me too) headed off to Pacific Sogo.

Pacific Sogo turned out a little disappointing though. It was so crowded that I lost the mood to shop but quickly made my way out to the entrance where I took these few shots of the buildings street scene.

I did not get t try the German pork recommended by Monica. Had wanted to try it as I have seen it in a Taiwanese variety show.

My German pork meal Blackforest cake at Blackforest, Germany, were terribly disappointing. After a long wait, we were served hard dry pork with wet lumpy rice soagy fries. I tried to eat the pork nevertheless while some others gave it a pass tried to fill their stomach with the fries. My friend did not even want to eat the cold lumpy rice dipped the fries in lots of ketcup to compensate the bland taste. The Blackforest cake looked lifeless the taste was no better than those cheap ones found in neighbourhood bakeries in Sinagpore.

However, I still believed that this authentic pork dish is tasty despite the disappointing experience at the sourvenir cum cafe arranged by our CTC tour agent. T, I had badly wanted to try this famous dish again after seeing the Taiwanese gourmet programme. However, after my round at Shihlin Market, my stomach simply had no more room for it though I knew I could probably not taste this dish at that kind of price in Singapore. Hopefully, I can get to try this authentic dish one day.
