#european rail travel # Cheap European rail toursAsk the experts: Sophie Butler, consumer travel expert, suggests the most cost-effective options for a rail tour of Europe.12:30PM BST 05 Jul 2013 Comments FAQ: Is there a moneysaving pass which would allow us to spend 10 days or so touring European cities by train, with a flexible itinerary. We are both in our sixties will this make it cheaper? Sophie Butler, consumer travel expert, replies But for flexibility and the possibility to change your plans whenever you wish, the most straightforward and cost-effective way of organising your trip is to buy an InterRail Pass. These are open to European citizens (or to anyone who has lived in Europe for more than six months) and are available to buy as early as three months before departure. Within the 'Global category, you can buy a flexi ticket which gives you unlimited travel on a set number of days within a 10 or 22-day time period. Or you can buy a continuous ticket which allows you to travel every day within a specific time period (either 15 days, 22 days or a month).
