That little pest of a question pops up every time I book a flight, confirm a hotel room or reserve a rental car. It’s become the “Do you want fries with that?” of online travel booking. The difference: sometimes I buy the fries.

I have never bought travel insurance in my life because instinct has always told me that it’s a bad deal. I rarely pay for hotel rooms, tours or rental cars in advance. I don’t pack designer clothing in my checked luggage. I’m generally healthy, and I have medical insurance that covers me abroad. (It claims to, at least.)

The Flight Home

Well, this is it- after 291 days of travel we are on the flight back home. It s quite a mix of emotion about heading back, but mostly, we are excited. We spent part of yesterday going through photos from the previous 10 months. Sometimes its hard to believe we saw did so many things. It s funny to think that the inspiration photos we ve been staring at for years, we have seen with our own eyes.

Even now, when I look at the pictures from early on the trip, I sometimes can t beleive that it was me that took that picture. What's the verdict comparing these two tough commuter/tourers with 85 PSI max pressure ratings? For mileage and puncture protection on hardcore city commutes and fine gravel cycle paths?

If anyone is running the Conti CONTACT SECURITY tires, how are they performing. as they seem the nearest to the Marathon Plus for thick inner protective shield and tire weight.

I just put a Vittoria Randonneur Cross 700x35c on the back. This is only 70 PSI (which drops to 60) and even if is a marginally cheaper tire with special puncture protection, 70psi just won't cut it for speed commuting on London roads and very fine abrasive gravel which covers some bitumen cyclepaths.

I had booked trip with Sachin travels for Bangkok, Pataya, Malaysia and Singapore (Trip code SE3) STARTING FROM 18-12-2012 from Mumbai. Booking was done almost 5 months ago by paying full amount. I was doing regular followup and was told that trip may be delayed one-two days. when I could not get any information I called the Nashik office on 7-12-2012 and really shocked to hear that the trip may not go as company is facing financial crisis. I tried to call Mumbai office when I was told by the lady on phone that they do not know any thing about the fate of the trip. Today’s Congressional action extending the Federal Aviation Administration authorization reinstates retroactively the airline ticket taxes for passengers who traveled during the lapse of the FAA's authorization. As a result of the bill Congress passed today, passengers who purchased tickets prior to July 23 and traveled between July 23 and the date of enactment of today’s legislation are not entitled to a refund of the airline ticket excise tax. Additionally, the IRS intends to provide relief for passengers and airlines with respect to ticket taxes that were not paid or collected because of the lapse.

Booked a flight through Kayak.com, not aware it was a third party doing the booking (1st problem and unacceptable practice from Kayak) - The booking company turned out to be Airfare.com

The fare was a little better than others, but not much, and definitely not worth the aggravation and excess charges.

Change fees are $350 DOLLARS, when the airline only charges $200.00, but they claim its the airline. So they are charging $150 dollars above the airline fees for themselves.

It is an absolute nightmare to make any changes, since they are incredibly inefficient. Unfortunately, you are forced to go through them for any issues with your ticket.

I needed to make a change to my outbound flight, so I sent a request through their site.
