If there's one regulation that airlines hate more than anything, it's the 24-hour rule.

Can you blame them? In 2012, the Transportation Department required air carriers to allow you to hold a reservation without payment or cancel a booking without penalty for 24 hours after your reservation, with some exceptions.

That allowed passengers to fix mistakes, such as a misspelled name or a wrong date. They could just cancel the ticket and rebook, as long as their departure date was more than a week away. But this government-mandated "out" clause probably also cost airlines millions in revenue.

Sold to an Australian man for over $100,000 USD, two tickets on the maiden commercial voyage of the Airbus A380 have become the most expensive airline tickets in the world.

However, I booked the best airfare deal of the year just a month ago, when British Airways had an incredible fare sale on flights to Europe . Flights to London were advertised at $2015, but the actual price was even lower, at around $1800. However, as the day progressed, people discovered that it was working for continental Europe, allowing you to save on APD, which was roughly $220. The base fare was $476.

The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Nepal following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25. While the frequency and severity of aftershocks have greatly diminished, the possibility of earthquakes or aftershocks continues. The overall effect of the initial earthquake and its aftershocks varied greatly across the country. Areas close to the epicenters suffered significant damage, while other areas in the country were nearly unaffected. This replaces the Travel Warning dated July 2, 2015.

The April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks destabilized steep, mountainous areas, and severe landslides have occurred in some affected areas. New airline brings cheaper flights to Dayton

Airport leaders say the announcement Thursday that low-cost carrier Allegiant Air is coming to Dayton International Airport will give people more options for flights and could save the region millions in ticket costs.

Allegiant Air will start with nonstop service next year from the Dayton airport to Orlando and to Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida.

The flights to Orlando begin April 14 and the flights to Tampa begin April 15. Allegiant currently flies out of Cincinnati, its closest airport to Dayton. The airline’s business model is largely flights from U.S. cities to vacation destinations such as Florida, Hawaii and Las Vegas.

The Dayton airport has seen a traffic decline overall of 7.5 percent for the first nine months of the year compared to the previous year. The airport has had 24 consecutive months of traffic declines amid a larger shift in the a ... Read more »

Q: I recently booked a flight from Sacramento, California, to Honolulu for me and my husband using Expedia. Later, I found the exact same itinerary on Travelocity for $176 less. I called Expedia and asked it to honor its Best Price Guarantee. I am looking to receive the difference between the trip we booked with Expedia for $4,416 and the cost we could have gotten it for, the minute we booked this trip, through Travelocity, which was $4,240. A representative told me we would be “covered” by the guarantee. In fact, she reassured me a number of times, even after the price jumped from $4,300 to $4,400 before we were able to book it with her through Expedia. I followed the instructions to request the refund and a $50 travel voucher. Expedia turned me down. I’ve appealed to Expedia’s executives, to no avail. Can you help me?
