Weird Travel Sights: Frog Juice in Peru! | The Travel Tart Blog

Today s What the f *$ is that? travel photo are bizarre Travel Sights from John from Jetpunk which is about a heap of quizzes (including those about travel) that will keep you occupied in many trivia nights for a few years!

It s of the Frog Juice (or Jugo de Rana in Spanish) stand located in Arequipa, Peru .

Yes, that aquarium is full of frogs that s ready to end life in a blender, mixed with a truckload of other bizarre ingredients to make Frog Juice .

This place has even made international headlines. This stall has been selling fresh frog juice for over a decade, and some of the locals reckon they drink it everyday for increased strength.

South America. and Peru are all big on fresh fruit juices. There’s nothing like going down to the local square to smash down a glass of fresh juice in the morning, right?

Well, now you can have Frog Juice instead of orange juice!

The frogs, which supposedly come from nearby Lake Titicaca. are removed from the above aquarium, euthanised, skinned and dropped into a blender in a bizarre concoction that makes Balut look palatable .

Often called “Peruvian Viagra” (as opposed to Natural Viagra ), anecdotal evidence suggests this tonic creates a new lease of life on the human body.

I m pretty sure it would on the way out at both ends!

I m a pretty brave soul and usually try a lot of unusual stuff on my journeys, but I m drawing the line at this cup full of chunky froggy goodness. I ve give this one a big fat swerve!
