#Travels to my Elephant.

Travels to my Elephant a global rickshaw race to save Asia’s magnificent elephants. Backed by Selfridges, it will see a 20 strong fleet of intoxicating high colour autorickshaws take over London’s roads this summer before racing to the world’s most famous elephant in India.

Individually designed by a host of international artists, milliners and fashion houses, including Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrara, Mulberry and Benjamin Shine, the 20 strong fleet have been transformed into traffic stopping pieces of mobile art. From 1 st June 2015 for two months, the rickshaws will be seen; roaming London’s roads on weekly parades; chauffeuring guests to and from top locations including The Goring, Rosewood London and Chiltern Firehouse, transporting willing travellers to Duke of York Square to visit elephants Tara and Ella; and gathering at the weekends in Sloane Square and Covent Garden Piazza to offer the public free rides and a chance to contribute towards the campaign, fully insured thanks to fine art logistics specialists, Cadogan Tate.  For rickshaw events and locations click here.

Tara is giant 10ft painted creation, possibly the world’s biggest birthday present to the children of London, gifted by parenting experts, Maclaren who celebrate their 50 th  anniversary this year. She will be residing at Duke of York Square in June with a baby Asian elephant, Ella. The public are also invited to buy a rickshaw and bid online from the 15th June, before they are auctioned live by Sotheby’s on 30th June hosted by TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall at Lancaster House.

Travels to my Elephant  is inspired by Elephant Family’s late founder and passionate conservationist, Mark Shand, and his best-selling book, Travels on my Elephant .

The campaign aims to raise a total of £1 million,  which will go towards securing a series of pioneering elephant corridors in Asia.
