FCO travel update: The FCO advises against all travel to Mexico's Ciudad Juarez, advising also against all but essential land crossings between the US and Mexico in Ciudad Juarez. The FCO also advises you exercise extreme caution when travelling on the highways between Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa, as there have been reports of disappearances. Hurricane season begins June 1 and ends November 30. The US Department of State predicts that this year will see a normal hurricane season, with a 70 percent chance of nine to fifteen named storms. If you are travelling to storm-prone regions, prepare for hurricanes, typhoons, and other tropical storms by organizing a kit in a waterproof container that includes a supply of bottled water, non-perishable food items, a battery powered or hand-crank radio, and vital documents. Emergency shelters often provide only very basic resources and may have limited medical and food supplies.

Book early to find the cheapest flights. Unlike holiday packages, where you can often find great last minute deals, the cheapest flights tend to be those booked in advance. Many low cost airlines bump up their prices as the flight gets nearer, especially on key European routes.
