Folks always ask me where I got this travel journal -- it s got the look of some serious scribe stuff. It s not, of course -- I tend to fill the margins with words I want to look up, like mysterious road sign instructions seen while bouncing along in a bus ( I wonder if this sign means Curve of Death Ahead . ). Travel journaling is not a serious biz -- just a way to track your action

Guide Review - Nomad Travel Journal, Planner and Diary

I lost a journal from an important trip years ago and I have forever been sorry. That happens. Just having written down each day s memories in that journal, though, helps me remember them years later (though I d like to find that darn journal).

Ya gotta get a journal, even if just a small spiral notebook from WalMart. Or you can go real-deal, like this great travel journal.

Some pages in the Nomad travel journal help you with planning before you leave home; it actually provides a place to record phone numbers (like the hostel I need to call when I can t find it). Also provides spots prompting me to write down travel method and duration/distance (you might not to think to record this, and it s key), as well as bed, grub, and events memories.

Journal Tips

Tape money to the inside cover; staple itinerary over it to disguise the cash stashing spot. Nobody wants to steal your travel journal. (Thanks, Journeywoman !)

Can t decide what to write? Just jot down what you ve eaten each day. When you read it later, you ll recall that sidewalk cafe in Rome where you had that espresso.

Note: The Nomad travel journal comes with its own very nice case, but on a recent journey, I found that the Nomad travel journal will also fit into my LL Bean passport organizer / travel wallet -- trimmed the back cardboard cover a bit and the journal fit right into the passport organizer s inner mesh pocket.
