Kayak || Jaunted

Do you or a loved one suffer from triskaidekaphobia. (The fancy seven-syllable word means a fear of Friday the 13th.) Traditionally feared as a day of misfortunes, the panic extends to air travel causing Friday the 13th to be one of the cheapest days to fly.

"It is fascinating to see just how much the concern caused by Friday 13th is affecting consumer travel behavior," KAYAK Managing Director Annie Wilson told the Daily Mail. "The savvier option is to put aside superstition and snap up a bargain flight while others are battening down the hatches."

We totally get that the number 13 is considered unlucky; it’s why many hotels intentionally leave out a 13th floor. Even Winston Churchill allegedly refused to sit in row 13 on an airplane--and he was a seemingly rational human being. But would it stop us from traveling? Highly unlikely. Mishaps can happen at any time, any place. A mystical date on the calendar sure isn’t going to dictate our luck.

Are you flying this Friday? Did you get a noticeably better fare for booking your flight on Friday the 13th? Are you taking any superstitious pre-flight precautions? We want to know.
