***Cold front reaches the East Coast Friday evening*** ***Showers and thunderstorms expected ahead of front*** ***Rain and snow showers for the northwestern U.S.*** The low pressure system responsible for the severe weather over the past two days is now moving into southern Canada. The associated cold front from this low is continuing its trek eastward towards the East Coast, and is expected to move offshore by Saturday morning. Ahead of this front, expect a warm and somewhat humid day on Friday across the eastern U.S. with some scattered strong to locally severe thunderstorms developing from the Mid-Atlantic region to the Deep South. The cold air wedge east of the Appalachian Mountains that has kept cool and cloudy conditions in place is expected to erode and allow for a return to much warmer temperatures ahead of the front. Even behind the cold front, it will be a pleasant weekend with high pressure settling in along with comfortable temperatures.
