Travel agents plan the transportation and accommodations for their clients. They also evaluate the needs of individuals, families organizations and business people and make the appropriate travel recommendations and arrangements. Travel agents provide advice regarding destinations, attractions, activities, exhibitions, tours and cruise lines. Travel agents often work with business people and arrange their travel needs. Some agents specialize in areas such as business, leisure, or specific parts of the world such as Asia or Europe.

Travel agents utilize travel sources on the Internet to obtain information such as air travel departure and arrival times, hotel reservations, attractions and activities as well as for searching for bargains and discounts. Occasionally, travel agents visit the resorts, hotels and restaurants they recommend to their clients in order to check the quality of the destinations.

Some agents work mainly with travel tour operators, travel specialit ... Read more »

The world is full of amazing destinations. I found a lot of them backpacking around Western Europe during my college years. Along the way I collected a lot of helpful travel knowledge (most learned the hard way, unfortunately). Here are 10 tips for cheap travel around Western Europe.

1. Find a cheap plane ticket across the Atlantic.

The most expensive part of traveling Europe is getting there. A transatlantic flight can cost you between $500-1,000. Finding a cheap ticket isn’t impossible, though.

Booking as far in advance as possible will save you quite a bit of money. You can sign up for notifications of cheap flights to your top destinations on most travel websites (Trip Advisor, Expedia, Travelocity, etc.).

Instead of planning your schedule first and then booking flights, another alternative is finding the cheapest flight across the Atlantic, then planning your travel route around those start and end destinations.

2. Find cheap city-to-city ... Read more »

Afterwards the Plane approached it?s last Trip to Mojave Desert, to be scrapped.

Over the last few years there has been a proliferation of comparison sites on the web. And these sites have really come into their own of late since they can do the hard work for you, for various travel services, allowing you to forgo the lengthy process of hopping from site to site to find the cheapest flights, insurance, hotel deals and car hire options. We've trawled through the web to find the best in show.

If you think a comparison website should be added to the list, email your suggestion to benji.lanyado@guardian.co.uk - and we'll put it to the test. But the perceived glaring omissions are for a reason: sites like Expedia. Thomson. and Travelocity may search for plenty of options in their respective fields, but the comparison sites examine them against what their competitors are churning out. For example, many websites collate thousands of hotel prices - such as Late Rooms. Hotels.com. Skoosh - but Trivago (our pick, below) will compare the results of all of these sit ... Read more »

Claudette Covey is the Executive Editor for travAlliancemedia covering Mexico, Canada and the U.S. East Coast for travel agents and consumers. Today she talks to us about how she got her start as a travel writer, how business writing differs from consumer writing and the hottest places to explore in Mexico.

Before we get into what you re doing now, how did you get started as a travel writer and what led to your early successes?

I wish I could say there was a strategy behind my career as a travel writer, but that simply isn’t the case. After graduating from college with a degree in creative writing, I moved to New York City with the aim of obtaining any job I could find in the publishing industry. My first job was as an editorial assistant with the now-defunct True Detective magazine. I loved the job but the pay was abysmal.

After a year or so with the magazine, I contacted an employment agency that specialized in publishing to find a ... Read more »

The present day United Mexican States. usually just called Mexico. has an amazing culture that is the result of centuries of intermingling between the indigenous American cultures and Spanish culture. These cultures have come together to create a modern nation with all the skyscrapers of other Western nations, but with traditional, centuries-old practices still carried on as if white man had never set foot in the New World. For travellers able to tear themselves away from Mexico's metropolitan hot spots and explore the countryside, an engaging insight into prehispanic culture is the reward. But tear themselves away they must, for Mexico's popular tourist spots are popular with very good reason. Whether it be the ancient ruins at Teotihuacan, Spanish colonial towns like Puebla, or the gorgeous seaside resort at Acapulco. Puerto Vallarta or Cancun. Mexico's diversity delights visitors with it ... Read more »

You can travel to and through Germany by train or air, stay in luxury hotels and even castles and enjoy modern light cuisine at star-rated restaurants.

From adventure to relaxation, a last minute weekend break or a well-planned journey there is something to look at in every town across Germany, and a beer waiting at every local tavern.

If you re in for adventure travel, one thing I recommend is to hike the Teutoburg Forest. covering more than 2,500 km of bike trails or even surf (clothing optional) throughout the South.

Another tip is to spend some quality time in the Black Forest during winter and enjoy skiing and/or sledding extensively. Or, in summer, vacation in the Eifel and Bergisches Land regions to do in summer what one can do in winter sledding on one of the various Sommerrodelbahnen (Summer Sledding Tracks).

Handy Things to Pack for a Trip

My list of essential travel supplies : Here's a list of things I take on most of my trips (picture):

A hand fan (top), ear plugs to help with changing air pressure, nose spray for dry air, fabric refresher, spot remover, bathroom refresher, hand sanitizer, sleep mask, small sewing kit and safety pins, and my vitamin crystals.

These small but essential variously keep me clean, fresh and comfortable during the flight and at my destinations.

Not shown in the picture is an inflatable neck pillow and a roll of duct tape. These items are all small and light, so take up little room in a purse or day pack. Read on for more details on each of my essentials, and consider packing a few for your trip.

Immaculate beaches and verdant hills, wildlife-rich rainforests and tumbling waterfalls, imposing mountain ranges and vibrant cities, all wrapped in defiantly Revolutionary politics; the island of Cuba can rightfully claim to be one of the most singular destinations on the planet.

The largest and most populous island in the Caribbean. Cuba's 1959 socialist revolution and the subsequent US trade embargo has frozen the island in time; vintage American cars still roar through the ramshackle streets of its cities, while horses and carts clatter through the countryside.

The capital, Havana. serves up a heady mix of dilapidation and debauchery. It is a city where beautifully restored colonial buildings rub shoulders with the rundown tenements of regular Cubans. The contrasts can be stark, but Havana s ubiquitous salsa rhythms, uninhibited dancing and potent cocktails galvanise the city and make for an enthralling urban experience unlike any other.

Certain affiliate marketing niches always remain popular choices because consumers are constantly interested in the products. Numerous travel affiliate programs offer generous commissions on a wide variety of travel related products and services that are invariably in demand.

Among the most popular travel affiliate products are hotel reservations, travel insurance, luggage, car rentals, vacation packages and airplane flight reservations. Some of these products, like hotel reservations, can even be booked as a travel agent affiliate. The best travel agency affiliate programs offer online reservations for the agent along with high paying commissions.

Combining expansive greenery, slick cities and bucketfuls of fresh air, Switzerland is a stylish tourist destination offering countless outdoor adventures and contemporary urban breaks.

Switzerland s Alpine vistas are so picture perfect, they can appear plucked from the pages of a storybook. But these disarming landscapes are alive and kicking, as a spot of skiing, hiking or mountain biking will attest. Ski resorts like Zermatt (home to the lofty Matterhorn), Verbier and celebrity-studded St Moritz provide everything from big, bad Olympic runs to encouragingly gentle novice slopes. And when the snow melts at low altitudes, the white-tipped mountain peaks remain against a backdrop of blue skies, providing a superb setting for summertime hiking.

The ancient capital Berne provides almost endless opportunities for sightseeing, shopping and traditional folk entertainment, while Zurich leads the way in art, design and nightlife; from opera and world-class theatre to stylis ... Read more »

Traveler Spanish to Real Spanish

Bastante, spoke The Salvadoreno with a smile when a visitor to The Farm asked if I can speak Spanish.

Bastante enough was the correct way to put it.

But more accurately, I don t speak Spanish. I speak traveler Spanish. Which, simply put, is Spanish spoken to be understood, rather than grammatically correct. It is a bastardized form of the language that is meant to communicate simple statements in simplified ways, rather than sound like a local.

When I speak my traveler Spanish everyone knows right off that I am a Gringo. but they also understand what I say.

I know and can use the present simple tense with pure fluidity. If something is going on right now, I can talk about it; if I want to know something that is currently happening, I can find out what it is; if I wish to express my current sentiments, I can do so A-OK.

It's a fact almost every traveler faces: The world is bigger than our wallets are deep. And while there are plenty of tricks for squeezing the most out of every vacation dollar, one of the simplest options is to find a place that has a lot to offer but hasn't yet been hit by the price inflation that comes with big-time popularity.

Gulliver's Travels is an adventure story (in reality, a misadventure story) involving several voyages of Lemuel Gulliver, a ship's surgeon, who, because of a series of mishaps en route to recognized ports, ends up, instead, on several unknown islands living with people and animals of unusual sizes, behaviors, and philosophies, but who, after each adventure, is somehow able to return to his home in England where he recovers from these unusual experiences and then sets out again on a new voyage.

Book I: When the ship Gulliver is traveling on is destroyed in a storm, Gulliver ends up on the island of Lilliput, where he awakes to find that he has been captured by Lilliputians, very small people approximately six inches in height. Gulliver is treated with compassion and concern. In turn, he helps them solve some of their problems, especially their conflict with their enemy, Blefuscu, an island across the bay from them. Gulliver falls from favor, however, because he ... Read more »

Former Retail Merchandiser

Whether you travel for business or pleasure, it's important to have the right travel bags to store and transport your gear. Suitcases aren't the only important options to consider. You'll travel more comfortably and in style when you have a selection of pieces that meet your needs, such as garment bags, backpacks, duffel bags and more. There are plenty of choices to organize your gear the next time you hit the road or take to the skies.

When selecting suitcases, consider your mode of transportation, the types of items you need to pack and - of course - your personal style preferences.

If you travel by air and want to avoid unnecessary fees for checking your bags, you'll need an airline carry-on bag that meets your airline's size restrictions. For the ease of navigating through busy airports to catch tight connections, it's generally a good idea to get a small suitcase with spinner wheels. These bags are equally handy for car, bus, t ... Getting the best airline deals is an important way to save your company money. But the Internet is a crowded and complex place. If you're hoping to find one website where all of the lowest prices live, forget it.

Finding the lowest airline prices takes legwork.

Finding the best airline deals takes even more legwork. But first you've got to define what "best" means to you.

Here is my advice for getting the best airline deals:

*   Don't try to be an all-knowing travel expert. Be honest with yourself. Recognize which simple bookings you can do yourself and which complicated ones are best handled with the assistance of a travel professional.

*   Doing Internet research is a double-edged sword. The more you surf for savings, the more of your own time you're investing. There will come a point when you'll ask yourself, "What price do I assign to my time?"

*   So, if it seems like your online research is going to consume too much time, conside ... Read more »

REUTERS/Jason Redmond Travelers walk past rental car companies at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in SeaTac, Washington

As arduous as air travel might be, getting around town after landing can be even worse. Many travelers turn to public transit, others hop in cabs, but most rely on a good old-fashioned rental cars. In fact, the car rental business become a $25 billion industry in 2015 .

Unfortunately, there's a bewildering array of rental companies, locations, cars, and optional features that can affect the price of a rental.  As a result, the actual cost of a rental can end up much higher than advertised.

In response, some travelers have turned to the simplified user experience of car sharing programs, such as Zipcar. However, unless you're renting for less than day, car sharing programs are far more expensive than major car rental agencies, Consumer Reports Senior Editor  Jeff Blyskal told Business Insider.

Let’s face it, Paris and Rome are simply two of the glitziest cities in Europe, if not the world. Both are synonymous with great fashion, food, architecture and history, not to mention a wonderful sense of appreciating beauty and simply enjoying life.

You can travel while you sleep on an overnight train. Or you can make the most of your freedom by using regional trains and stopping off in Lyon, Nice or Marseilles.

Or you can head across the mountains into Switzerland, slosh back beer in Munich or stop for a ski break in Innsbruck. With so many options, the journey between Paris and Rome can become an adventure in its own right.

Travelling abroad can be a very worthwhile and rewarding experience. Whether it's your first time to leave Ireland or you are a seasoned traveller, there are a numer of things you need to consider when you are preparing for travel abroad.

You can choose which offer you accept, and the finder sends step by step instructions for how to book the flight.

    Benefits

The savings can be huge. Flightfox advertises in its emails that members save an average of 27% on flights. Looking at a list of flight contests advertised, I did a quick search of a few flights to compare ... Read more »
