While travelling to Spain you ll see it is a country of contrast. In Barcelona you ll find museums devoted to Dali, Picasso and Miro. In Madrid don’t forget to visit El Museo del Prado. It s a magnificent building with incredible paintings by Spanish painters as Goya, Velazquez and Picasso.

Once you ll be travelling around Spain and going up north, in Bilbao you ll want to see the Guggenheim Museum. an astonishing piece of architecture along the sea.

Visit the Alhambra de Granada and the Mezquita (mosque) de Cordoba to enjoy the beauty of the Muslim buildings. The Mezquita de Cordoba is the third-largest mosque in the world, after Mecca and Istanbul s Blue Mosque.

Andalucia, in the south, is renowned for its flamenco performances. I strongly recommend that you experience one of these shows for an authentic experience in the region where flamenco was born.

London, Paris and Berlin are beautiful, interesting cities. I ve visited each of them more than once, and I recommend that you do the same.

However, the weather in those cities is often less than inspiring. After all, rain is a frequent occurrence in northern Europe; snow, fog and low temperatures are of course normal in winter.

Now, think about Greece, Italy and. Spain. Here it s beautiful in January, just as it is in August. For example, in 2015, Barcelona s peak August temperature was 35?C and the lowest in December was 10?C. However, if you re ever too cool on the peninsula, you can always take a two-hour flight to the Canary Islands and enjoy the nice, warm weather.

If you re someone who likes winter sports, you don’t need to get a flight to the Alps. Just travel to Spain and head to the Sierra Nevada in Granada or the Pyrenees. and you ll be enjoying skiing or snowboarding in very good conditions. with very affordable pricing

You ll notice it right away: Once you start walking along any street of any Spanish city, you ll realize the large number of bars where you can get a glass of wine, a beer or a tapa.

Spaniards like going out after work and having a beer with their colleagues or catching up with their friends. Thursday, Fridays and weekends are the most popular days, but the outdoor atmosphere never stops.

Please don t forget the chiringuitos: those little huts in front of the beach, where you can enjoy a mojito after a relaxing swim in the Mediterranean.

Spain is justifiably renowned for its tapas, sangria, paella, pa amb tomaquet, pinxos, jamon de jabugo and more. Enjoy all these beautiful meals with a good Rioja, Penedes or Ribera del Duero wine.

Cava (similar to Champagne) is the term for sparkling wine in Spain. Spain has 7880 km of shore and more than 3,000 beaches along its three coasts: the Mediterranean Sea, the Cantabric Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

There’s always a good spot for everyone, families, surfers. or those who just want to rest after a night out!

Move around in Spain. You ll notice that Catalans are different from Madrilenos and those from Andalucia. Different cultures and consequently different meals, wines, beers, activities and languages give the traveller a diverse range of experiences.

Spaniards are crazy about soccer. To prove it, watch the news on TV. You ll see that some channels spend 20 minutes talking about soccer.

BarcelonaFC and Real Madrid are the country s two major teams. Today they re considered the best in Europe and even the world.

I have been to Camp Nou (BarcelonaFC stadium) many times, and I can assure you: It s an amazing experience even if you re not particularly sports-minded!

Remember that if you re very brave, you can always run with the bulls in Pamplona on July 7 14. If you re like me, though, and you don’t feel like getting stressed running in front of those huge animals, just go and enjoy the wild atmosphere from a vantage point above the street.

La Tomatina, in Bunol (Valencia) is also a popular party. You d better see what it s all about before getting involved!!

These are perhaps the most popular festivals in Spain, but remember that, generally speaking, most villages have festivals for at least one week in summer.

Barajas (Madrid’s airport) and El Prat (Barcelona’s airport) are the country s most important airports. They make it easy to travel to Spain from anywhere in the world.

Busy secondary airports dot the country, and they see considerable traffic.

Good connection to other European countries are also readily available. Remember that good, low-cost airlines operate in Spain.

According to UNESCO, approximately 400 million people speak Spanish, making it the second most spoken language after Chinese (with English in third place).
