Have you—like us—ever had a container of liquid or gel confiscated from you by airport security? Or have you—like us—had a bottle of shampoo explode in your luggage?

If you have, then you—like us—can appreciate the value of a durable, carry-on friendly travel bottles.

Travel bottles are not the sort of WOW! factor products we usually review at Spot Cool Stuff. But they are the sort of product nearly everyone brings on an overnight trip.

And so we thought it was worth mentioning what will become a staple of our own travels: the PakUrDerm travel kit .

The two primary qualities that make PakUrDerm cool—or, at least as cool as a set of travel bottles can be:

PakUrDerm meets international regulations for carry-on airplane luggage. That is, no single bottle is more than 3.2 ounces, the total volume of the bottles do not exceed 1 quart and the bottles all fit inside a clear plastic zippable bag. The PakUrDerm kit contains six individual bottles and, between them, it is surprising how much liquid you are allowed to bring on a plane. Unless you are Troy Polamalu or Rubeus Hagrid you can easily carry on enough shampoo—plus enough mouthwash, liquid body wash and conditioner—for a week-long trip.

The PakUrDerm bottles are strong. Each bottle is made from strong, plastic (and BPA-free) material. The lids screw on via multiple threads (most travel bottles have only one thread) and large ridges on the side of the cap allow it to be screwed on tightly.

Some other things we appreciate about the PakUrDerm kit: it comes with a marker and stickers so you can label what s in each bottle, each cap is attached to its bottle, the mouth of each bottle is wide (allowing for easy refills and cleaning), the bag is made from recycled plastic, the bottles lock together and a portion of the proceeds from each sale goes to a charity chosen by consumers.

The downside of the PakUrDerm system? Each bottle lid is a bright primary color and on the top of each bottle there s a raised symbol. Both are intended to make it easier for the visually impaired to identify the individual bottles, which is a good thing. But it also makes the bottles look like kids toys.
