Like many other great ventures in the world of travel, Akbar Travels also had a humble beginning in the year 1978. The phenomenal success of the travel agency is on account of the vision and direction of our Founder/Chairman Managing Director Mr. K.V. Abdul Nazar.

It was truly all service under one roof for the skilled and semi-skilled workers who left their native villages to chase the mirage of their Gulf dream. In addition to affordable air tickets, Akbar Travels provided land transportation, visa and immigration assistance, boarding and lodging. This business was started in the Seventies, when labour traffic to the Middle East was at its infancy. Today there are thousands of well settled non-Resident Indians in all Gulf countries, who are grateful to Akbar Travels for helping them to realise their dreams.

Growth in India

Akbar Travels of India is the largest Travel Agent in India in terms of IATA approved Branches, staff strength and business turnover. Currently, we have total of 54 IATA and 12 non- IATA branches all over India serving our customers. The growth from humble beginnings as a small travel agency specialising in Gulf traffic to a well diversified agency providing the entire gamut of travel services was indeed spectacular. Our growth started in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Presently there are 28 branches in Kerala, spanning almost all the districts of God s own country. We also have branches in all the metro cities of India. In-roads were made into the Northern and Eastern states of India recently, and the response from the travelling community was overwhelming. Internationally, we are spreading our network in the Gulf countries. We have opened branches in sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaima, Dubai.
