Although Travelmood is part of a chain and has been arranging holidays for 25 years, this new travel shop is one of only six in the UK.

I first encountered the shop on an oppressively overcast February afternoon. The huge images of serene beaches, azure skies and vivid tropical fish, emanate through the glass fronted shop, and I pushed my way through the door under their hypnotic spell.

I have always considered booking a holiday through a travel agent in the setting of a shop, to be a rather antiquated way to approach the task, considering the vast amount of budget friendly websites that are in existence. Travelmood provides a different experience. It is staffed by helpful people, who offer guidance without a hard sell attitude. The designers of the business have cleverly constructed the decor to create a peaceful atmosphere, with splashes of exotic colour.

A week long all exclusive booze fest in Torremolinos, you shall not find in Travelmood. The destinations on offer are all of a long haul status, with all holidays tailored to suit the individual. There are driving, safari, touring and adventure holiday packages, and extended periods of travel can also be arranged.

After browsing through some magazines in store and continuing my research on their website, Travelmood do seem to offer unique holiday experiences, at attainable prices. So often, the prices requested by agents are astronomical, but the services provided by Travelmood seems more than reasonable for a special holiday. Now, where did I put my lilo?
