Currency and exchange used in Cuba
The Cuban Convertible Peso is the local currency, although Canadian dollars are recommended. Most hotels have a money exchange office on site, although not all will exchange Canadian travel cheques. Visa and Mastercard cheques and credit cards are widely accepted. Regrettably, American Express cheques and credit cards are not commonly accepted. ATM's are not available in Cuba.

Cuba Tourist Card
Canadians travelling to Cuba as tourists are required to fill out a tourist card (Visa – Tarjeta del Turista). The card you will receive will be stamped on the reverse by Sunwing Airlines. This is a fill-it-out-yourself card, which you will present to the Cuban Immigration officer upon your arrival in Cuba. The cost of this card is included in your Sunwing package. You will receive your card on board your Sunwing flight en route to Cuba. One card per traveller is required to be completed. Please note: this card is separate from the departure tax which is required from all travellers departing Cuba. Those departing from Cuba effective May 1, 2015 will conveniently prepay all taxes with your Sunwing vacation.
Mandatory Check-in of Mobility Aids
Many countries, including Cuba, require that any mobility device (wheelchair, scooter, walker etc.) be screened and x-rayed prior to being loaded onto the return flight. Therefore, passengers are not permitted by the Airport Authority to 'gate-check their devices. The Airport Authority will provide wheelchairs for passengers use while in the airport at the check-in counter.
