Believe it or not, getting your one time credit report for free is not as difficult as you may think. Many people are under the impression that the only way to find out what their credit report says  is to apply for a line of credit somewhere and wait for the denial letter. This is actually the hard way to get your one time credit report. The easiest way is to request one of them from each of the main credit reporting agencies. All of the major credit reporting agencies are obligated under the law to provide every consumer a free copy of their credit report once a year. This is stated in the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The only thing a person has to do to get his/her credit report from these agencies is to contact each one of them, either online or through the mail and request his/her report.

It is possible to get your one time credit report individually from each agency or by obtaining a 3 in 1 report. This is the best way to get your credit report for free but if you would like to be able to have access to your credit report more often than once annually then you may choose to opt for a service which allows you to see any fluctuations on your credit report in real time. This is usually done by joining a service which monitors credit and provides information on any changes that should occur to a persons report or score right when they happen.

When you join one of these sites there will almost always be some kind of free trial period that you can take advantage of. This is good because it allows you to choose whether or not their service is something you want to subscribe to permanently.
