The local beverage of choice is chicha, which is brewed from fermented corn maize. Often, people brew it in their homes, then bring it to the public square happy hours they have on Friday night. That seems to be the case in Aguas Calientes. It appears to be fashionable that women wear a hat, as shown in this photo. The weather is generally cool. Pisac Market,Lively and a whole bunch of merchants. Please try and walk around to check out the items and prices. The prices and designs can vary considerably as you walk deeper into the market area. Bargain and you will find some pretty good deals. Kids Panchos are so nice and finely decorated. We paid 6$ for a girls pancho size 8, for reference. There are 16 llamas in Machu Picchu, with colorful pompoms on their ear tags—I think they serve as lawn mowers on the terraces. They limit the llamas to 16—if a baby is born, the oldest or sickest one is killed. Quite simply, there aren't any. You'll quickly lose your inhibitions about relieving yourself in the great outdoors, because you won't really have a choice when necessity calls. The trek group with whom we went, provided a small tent which we referred to as the crapper as much for its smell as for its so called utility. I refused to go anywhere. Hello everyone! I just wanted to share something very unpleasant that happened to me last week at Machu Picchu's entrance:1. They charge you 300 USd for bringing your tripod into their Inca city. Their argument is that tripods are for professionals only. this is not specified ANYWHERE, not even in the INC' Web ( gov. body responsable for MP)2. Unless you have come straight from the Inca Trail you won't need to bring a whole lot of stuff with you. There is a bag storage room (with security) that you can leave your bags at if you like - perfect if you've just come off the Inca Trail. Just a small bag with film, camera and water should suffice. Suncreen and a hat are a must as you are much. Remigino Jul 11, 2015 at 6:33 AM Walked up those 2000 steps and got blown away! This place is amazing, it's wonderful and so powerful! Although I thought the path to Machu Picchu would actually be a real path, no just a giant stairway, I think if you take the bus you won't miss anything really ;)
