Everyone always asks me how I can afford to always travel. There is no amazing secret sauce to give you a killer deal every time but there are a few things I do which definitely can help.
Look for surrounding airports-
Depending on where you are going you can sometimes find a killer deal by flying in or out of a close airport. For example when I fly to the Los Angeles area I always look at all the airports near LAX. Usually I can find a better deal by flying into Long Beach or Burbank and as an added bonus I don’t have to deal with the bigger airport.
For international flights I also check the big airports close to Salt Lake like Denver or Los Angeles because there are more airlines that fly out of them and usually have more competitive fares. I recently looked at a fare from Denver to Iceland for under $550. This same fare from Salt Lake was almost $900. I could easily get a cheap flight to Denver or drive.
Budget Airlines-

No one is ever going to claim that travel in Europe is cheap. Between taxes, higher prices and exchange rates, you could easily spend more than the cost of your ticket in a week just on housing, local transportation and food. This expense definitely does not have to be the case. With a lot of planning and some practical ideas, you can travel in Europe on a tight budget and explore the continent without breaking the bank.
Step 1
Plan everything. If you want to keep your costs down while traveling in Europe, leave nothing to chance. Build an itinerary to follow, noting how many nights you plan to stay in each place. This schedule will help you book your travel arrangements and accommodations in advance. Develop your itinerary carefully, however, as once it is in place, you will need to stick to it to keep your costs low.
Step 2
Book early, and book online. Although a standard rail pass and airfare are basically fixed costs, most other transportation is

Spring break is already upon us, and if you’re looking to plan an upcoming summer vacation, the best travel rewards credit cards can help you come up with some extra savings on airfare, hotels, and general travel. All of these top travel cards offer lucrative points bonuses and superb options to earn and use points for maximum value.
Last year, I decided that the best travel rewards credit card for me is Chase Sapphire Preferred®
It has one of the largest signup bonuses in the industry as well as great long-term rewards for travel and dining. The number of ways you can redeem points, including transferring at equal value to many partners is simply unmatched by any card. This card remains my go to travel credit card again this year.
My colleague, Holly, pointed out in a recent post that the average vacation for a family of four rang in at a staggering $4,580 in 2015. The study that she sites was done by American Express. If you you’re like me

Travel cancellation insurance is one thing than many travelers don’t think about, since one of the least glamorous, but necessary, parts of travel planning is researching insurance. There are many different types to choose from, including travel cancellation insurance, family insurance. student insurance. and more. Before you climb aboard a plane, it is important to do your research and decide whether or not one of these forms of insurance is right for you. While it may be difficult to know where to begin, you will be glad you spent some time researching if you are faced with natural disasters, lost baggage, or other circumstances that are beyond your control.
Before considering trip cancellation insurance or any other type of insurance, the first step is to look at your existing insurance. Our Favorite Pet Friendly Hotels
The Rodeway Inn Casino Center is ideally located within short walking distance of many local attractions, including Heavenly Village.
After a long, cold winter, Florida sounds pretty good, right? \ Come on down, the weather is wonderful and warm here.
Stroll though extensive grounds and enjoy nighttime entertainment for a vacation you will not soon forget.
Why is pet insurance a good idea for pet travelers?
As a pet owner, you must face the fact that your pet will most likely not outlive you. Pets age at a pace seven times their owners and are very likely to incur veterinary expenses during your time with them.
If you like to travel and bring your pet with you anywhere in the United States or Canada, you know that any emergencies will be covered with pet insurance.
Scammers use our logo and say they are using our company to ship pets. Email us and ask! PetTravel does not transport pets.

It's the final countdown to your next big adventure. You’ve got your passport and tickets, every pair of socks you own, and enough mosquito repellent to cover an elephant. But aren’t you forgetting something? Travel insurance, a safety net if things go wrong, should be right at the top of your list.
Travelling wouldn’t be fun without surprises. But sometimes the unexpected leaves you whimpering in a hospital bed when you should be exploring the jungle. Injuries, illnesses, and even spewing volcanoes can tear up your perfect itinerary. And that’s where travel insurance can save you from distress – or at least from some of the costs, depending on the policy you buy.
Reading through your policy won’t get your pulse racing, but it’s essential to check how you’re covered, what’s not covered and any conditions that apply before you set out – whether you bought annual travel insurance or cover for a short trip. Let’s face it, you won’t be in the mood to read through travel

Last year we started a once-a-quarter feature on top trafficked sites in various sectors in travel, using monthly data from competitive intelligence metrics service SimilarWeb .
Previously, we have done data dives on top online booking sites from October 2015 data. and then Feb 2015 data .
This ranking below does not account for direct sites of travel brands (airlines/hotels) themselves, which we have done in separate lists previously. Also, our threshold is roughly 5 million visits per month to the online websites of these companies, and does not count any mobile app activity, hence sites like HotelsCombined, Hipmunk, Ostrovok and others don’t show up.
- We are not combining all companies under one rank (as in all Priceline Group, or Expedia Group), but we re combining all one-brand specific country sites (brand sites) together (hence all of TripAdvisor country sites are under one ranking).
- Booking.com is still killing it, and growing fast as

Madagascar is a country that occupies a large island of the same name, located in the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of Africa. It is the fourth largest island in the world.
The first people arrived in Madagascar between 350 BC and 550 AD from Borneo on outrigger canoes. These Austronesian first settlers were joined around 1000 AD by Bantu migrants crossing the Mozambique Channel.
Other groups such as Arabs, Indians, and Chinese continued to settle on Madagascar over time, each one making lasting contributions to Malagasy cultural life. The Malagasy way of thinking includes a mixture of cultures, as well as their appearance and fashion style. It is a melting pot. Madagascar is part of the African Union, but that is now being reconsidered due to the recent 2015 political turmoil regarding the African Union members.
That said, it is essential to the people of Madagascar that tourism continues to thrive. There is no reason why it should not. There is

America Online will unveil on Monday a preview version of the travel information search site it announced in November in partnership with Kayak Software, maker of a travel search engine.
With the site, called Pinpoint Travel. AOL aims to tap into the growing market of online travel, in which users increasingly demand functionality to search airfare and hotel options, says Jeff DeKorte, vice president and general manager of AOL Travel.
There are two types of online travel buyers: one is loyal to a particular travel site, while the other likes to shop around and search for the best deals. Pinpoint Travel has been designed to serve the latter type of buyer, DeKorte says.
"This other group is really very different. They lack brand loyalty. They don't use just one site all the time. Instead, price and convenience are the main criteria guiding their search," DeKorte says.
The travel information contained in Pinpoint Travel isn't unilaterally harvested by AO

Oslo's harbour with Akershus fortress

Land of extraordinary beauty, Norway's undisputed attraction is its fantastic scenery. Rugged mountains, fjords and glaciers give Norway a rough feel, one which is delightful to travellers accustomed to the slick cities of other European destinations. Even Norway's capital, Oslo. reflects this: uninterested in the busy bustle of modern life, the city takes pleasure in numerous parks, monuments and museums, maintaining a strikingly subdued attitude.
In its northern reaches, Norway stretches into the Arctic Circle. It's a cold place, but brilliantly varied and interesting. Perhaps contrary to popular beliefs, polar bears and walruses can not be seen in their natural environment atop ice floes on the coast of mainland Norway (Svalbard is another matter). Seals, however, can be seen many places along the coast. Nevertheless naturally treeless areas create a hau

The bible of budget travel. BBC
Do you want to travel more but think it s expensive? Would you like to find a way to make travel more affordable?
I used to see the commercials, watch the ads, and read the magazines and think I ll never be able to afford to travel. There just didn t seem like anything I could do to ever change that. Even if I could get that extra vacation time, hotels, flights, resorts they were all too expensive.
But then I went to Thailand and everything changed.
In 2005, I was on a vacation to Thailand with my friend Scott. We were in Chiang Mai to visit some temples and one day, I left Scott to visit a large temple outside of town on my own. I was in a shared taxi with five other people (three Canadians and a couple from Belgium).
On the way up to the temple, we started talking. The Canadians were on a break from work and traveling until their money ran out and the couple was using some of their vacation time to travel for

The idea for Travel With Kids came from the many questions we got about traveling with our kids. A trip to Spain, Morocco Ireland when Nathan was 11 months old. A trip to NYC when they were 3 and 1. Several trips to Mexico.
How do you get baby food. Do they have diapers? How do you know where to go, how to get around?
Other countries have babies too. And they have baby food and diapers, just like we do. Same brands. Unlike the USA, other countries primary source of income is tourism, so every street corner has a bus, taxi, travel agent, train. You can get where ever you want to go, when ever you want. Down the street, or to another country.
With backgrounds in TV production and marketing, we decided to make a video in Puerto Rico showing how to do this (Travel With Kids Caribbean.) 7 years later, here we are.
Our shows do not replace the traditional guidebook, but rather show parents and kids it is possible, and amazing to go. Go to Peru. Go to Cost

The U.S. phone system comprises regional service providers, competing long-distance carriers and several mobile-phone and pay-phone companies.
Cell Phones
In the USA, cell phones use GSM 1900 or CDMA 800, operating on different frequencies from other systems around the world. The only foreign phones that will work in the USA are GSM tri- or quad-band models. If you have one of these phones, check with your service provider about using it in the USA. Ask if roaming charges apply, as these will turn even local U.S. calls into pricey international calls.
It might be cheaper to buy a compatible prepaid SIM card for the USA, like those sold by ATT or Cingular, which you can insert into your international mobile phone to get a local phone number and voicemail. Planet Omni and Telestial offer these services, as well as cell phone rentals.
If you don’t have a compatible phone, you can buy inexpensive, no-contract (prepaid) phones with a local number an

This will not surprise frequent travelers, but if you haven t flown in a while, prepare for some sticker shock: the cost of airline tickets is on the rise. However, there are still some airfare shopping strategies to help travelers find cheap flights. and they are listed at the end.
Average airfare prices have been heading north as follows:
- 2011: Prices rose about 17%
- 2015: Prices are up about 4% since Jan. 1
So far this year, there have been four airfare hike attempts two of which were successful. There will be more attempts and we expect prices to rise even higher though not to levels where shoppers refuse to buy.
To a great extent, the price of oil is fueling the recent airfare hikes but there are other factors at work. Here s the round-up:
Rising fuel costs: Airline ticket prices are joined at the hip with the price of oil since jet fuel is such a significant cost

First, plan your trip. Consider how many people will be traveling, how long you want to be gone, and where you're going. It's easier to find all-inclusive packages for some vacation destinations than for others, so you may be better off booking through a travel agent if you can't find many deals for your destination. Flexibility is key in the planning process. If you can alter your travel dates or if you're open to staying in an area of your destination that's a bit farther away from the usual tourist attractions, you may be able to get a better deal.
Some travel packages imply that they cover certain expenses, but they actually don't. Taxes and fees may apply on quoted airfare rates, and you should always factor in extra costs of tipping and side travel that isn't included in the package. Even though some packages are billed as "all-inclusive," they may only include the bare minimum (lunch and dinner but not breakfast, for example). Plan for extra fees on your trip, and mak

Sri Lanka has more than 3,550 years of continuous written history by means of the Mahawansha, and was also mentioned in several ancient Indian texts. One of the most famous is the Ramayana. in which the island, which was referred to as Lanka, was the island fortress of the king Ravana, who captured the wife of Rama an incarnation of the Hindu God, Vishnu. Legend has it that Hanuman the monkey god flew over to Lanka and destroyed the capital by setting it on fire, while Rama and his remaining troops later crossed over from the mainland by building a land bridge across the sea.
The Sinhalese arrived in Sri Lanka late in the 6th century BC, probably from northern India. Buddhism was introduced beginning in about the mid-3rd century BC, and a great civilization developed at such cities as Anuradhapura (kingdom from c. 200 BC to c. 1000 AD) and Polonnaruwa (c. 1070 to 1200). Other notable but relatively more recent kingdoms are Dambadeniya, Yapahuwa, Gampola, Kandy and Jaf
