Bangkok welcomes more visitors than any other city in the world and it doesn t take long to realise why. This is a city of contrasts with action at every turn; marvel at the gleaming temples, catch a tuk tuk along the bustling Chinatown or take a longtail boat through floating markets. Food is another Bangkok highlight, from local dishes served at humble street stalls to haute cuisine at romantic rooftop restaurants.

Popular Thai restaurants in Old City Bangkok are plentiful, particularly down by the Grand Palace and the nearby backpacker enclave of Khao San Road. In fact, there are so many restaurants you can easily miss an outstanding meal in a great Thai restaurant.

Another issue for first-time visitors is that Bangkok Old City is so old. Streets are narrow and leading off in all directions so finding your way can be challenging. The Gardens of Dinsor Palace is a restaurant set within the house and grounds of a former royal mansion in the Ekkamai (Sukhumvit Soi 63) area of Bangkok. The pan-European menu is complemented by lovingly maintained gardens, swans preening themselves in the pond, and peacocks, bunny rabbits and doves in a large aviary visible through a fully glass-walled side of the house.

Built in 1930 for a royal princess, the house itself is made up of a coffee shop, downstairs dining room and several private rooms upstairs each with their own balcony. The Gardens of Dinsor Palace is fantastic for a large gathering of friends or family and it comes as no surprise that it is very popular with wedding groups.

The menu is full of tasty options and is very reasonably priced. It is also a bit scattergun in approach, but considering they are used to large groups with disparate tastes this is no bad thing. Read More.

Athletes looking for a weightless environment to aid recovery, the spiritually inclined looking for a place of relaxation, stressed out corporate types who need an hour away from the barrage of emails and phone calls, mothers who need some me time all of these types of people are using float tanks in Bangkok. The one thing that brings them all together is the need for a time out away from the world, with its demands and obligations. Read More.

Madame Langsuan (previously known as Madame Krok) is a popular Thai restaurant on Langsuan Road, where Issan food is prepared authentically and sold at very good value prices. The dining room is clean and bright thanks to the second storey location and floor-to-ceiling windows, while the service is brisk but friendly.

Now occupying the second floor of Portico Lifestyle Mall, you can walk from Chit Lom BTS Station in a couple of minutes and, surrounded by several hotels and serviced apartments, this is a great option for a regular but consistently good meal in the area. In fact, visitors to Bangkok lucky enough to stumble on Madame Langsuan often make it their regular restaurant for lunch or dinner. Read More.
