Arebbusch Travel Lodge (Windhoek, Namibia) - Hotel Reviews

Washington DC, District of Columbia

We stayed here for two nights upon arriving in Windhoek. Check in was fast even though we arrived late at night. They had someone drove us to our room (we weren’t able to pick up our car until the next day).

Each building consists of 4 rooms, each with its own parking spot for your car next to the room, at least for the standard room. We stayed in a standard room, which is of moderate size. The shower and sink are part of the room. There is no door to separate it from the bed area. There is a shower curtain, so you do get a little privacy while showering. The toilet is in its own small room. The room itself was fairly clean.

There is the standard hotel furniture inside the room: desk, chair, small fridge, tv, and a wardrobe/closet. The air conditioning worked fine, which was good because it was on the hot side during the day (30 C/85 F or higher) when we were there. The entrance to the room is a glass sliding door. So not your typical hotel room door. There is a patio like area in front of the glass door for each of the room that has a picnic table and bench. WiFi was ok. They do have a couple of computers in the Square that you can use.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is ok. We ate dinner there once and the food was ok. Price was reasonable.

The location is ok. Not too far (several km/miles) from our car rental place, grocery store, etc. However, it would still be best to have a car to get around since there are no sidewalks. Even though it’s close to Eros airport, the loudest noises we encountered when we were there were of speeding cars on the road next to our room. And even then it was only once in awhile. There are guards at the entrance to this lodge so no worry about anyone breaking into your car. Though we didn’t have that problem anywhere in Namibia.

You can stay in nicer rooms in the Square, where you do get access to a nicer swimming pool. But unless that is important to you, I think the standard room is more than sufficient.

The staff was nice and helpful.

Overall I enjoyed our stay here. I think it’s a great place to stay before you explore Namibia. Especially if you are heading south first.
