KLM Airline review

KLM Airline Review

Albert Plesman Founder of KLM Airlines

KLM Airlines or the Royal Dutch Airlines was established as the first commercial airline in the Netherlands founded by Albert Plesman and endorsed by the Queen of the Netherlands, Queen Wilhelmina in 1919.

The airline, like other European airlines, was severely affected during the World War II in 1940’s. Despite being gravely affected by the war in Europe, KLM was instrumental in extracting refugees from Japanese aggression in the Pacific via  the Australia-Dutch East Indies region.

Pieter Elbers is the chief executive officer of KLM since 2014. He responsible for the further development of the airline as well as the joint ventures it signed with other civil aviation companies.

    Laos Travel Guide

Laos officially known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic is one of the great travel frontiers; landlocked and mountainous, swamped by jungles and promising Indian Jones adventures in remote tribal villages and ancient Buddhist caves.

With Thailand on one side and Vietnam on the other, you might expect Laos to be commercial and crowded, but this is Asia s backwater, where life moves as slowly as the churning waters of the Mekong River, which forms the border with three countries Myanmar. Thailand and Cambodia as it snakes south towards the Gulf of Thailand.

A long-running civil war during which the USA dropped millions of bombs in Laos kept the country off the mainstream tourist circuit for many years. Unexploded ordnance and poor infrastructure continue to pose a challenge to tourism, but each year brings a new crop of upmarket accommodation to supplement the existing backpacker hostels Laos is finally finding its feet. Often overlooked in favour of its better-known neighbours, landlocked Laos remains one of Southeast Asia’s most beguiling destinations. Caught in the middle of the two Indochina wars and long isolated from the rest of the world, the country retains a slow, rather old-fashioned charm, and its people – incredibly laidback and friendly, even by Asian standards – are undoubtedly one of the highlights of any visit.

Laos’s lifeline is the Mekong River, which runs the length of the country, at times bisecting it and at others serving as a boundary with Thailand; the rugged Annamite Mountains historically have acted as a buffer against Vietnam, with which Laos shares its eastern border. Most people visit the country as part of a wider trip in the region, often entering from Thailand and following the Mekong further south. However, Laos alone rewards further exploration, and with a little more time it’s not hard to feel like you’re visiting places where fe ... Read more »

    Las Vegas Travel Tips

    Andrew Zarivny/Shutterstock

    Keep in Mind.

    • Prepare for desert weather Vegas can get extremely hot during the day, but nighttime breezes (and casinos' air conditioning) can be pretty chilly. Be sure to bring a jacket.
    • The house always wins No matter how well your winning streak is going, it's bound to come to an end at some point. Remain both optimistic and realistic.
    • Bring the kids Before you scoff at the thought of a family trip to Vegas, bear in mind that many of the casinos have kid-friendly attractions (like aquariums ).

With its neon flashin' and one-armed bandits crashin', this bright light city is bound to set your soul on fire. Gambling. Glitter. Sexy entertainment. Gourmet restaurants. Swanky shops. Nightclubs galore. It's all here in a 24/7 desert bacchanalia that on occasion makes Dionysus and his pals come off like amateurs. And when the tumblin' dice reward you with stacks of chips that are oh so nice, you'll sing Viva Las Vegas!

Vegas is constantly reinventing itself, discarding the old and donning the new. The King swivel-hipped his way out of the building long ago, of course. Liberace is gone. So are Siegfried Roy. And the storied casinos of Sin City's '60s and '70s heyday have been dropping like flies lately. The latest casualty is the Riviera hotel, a favorite haunt of the Rat Pack and a filming location fo ... Read more »

    Check Las Vegas Hotel Deals

    Las Vegas Overview

Las Vegas is America’s real life Sin City. It’s the city where notorious rapper Tupac Shakur met his end in a brutal assassination; a city with a main strip so bright you’ll find yourself wearing shades at night; a city where you can get drunk, and then get married; a city where you can win big, or lose it all.

Take a free class (available at most casinos) on how to beat the dealer at poker, blackjack, roulette, or pretty much any other gambling game you’d like to try your hand at, before hitting the infamous casino floors at Caesar’s Palace, The Bellagio or the MGM Grand. Bet in nickels or notes, or hang off the lever of a one armed bandit and hope luck – or, in the case of poker, a little bit of well-honed skill – sees you go home quits, or even covering your hotel bill.

It’s not all about the casinos, though. Regular fight nights bring world class boxing to the strip and a buzz that ... Read more »

“What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” It may be a marketing slogan, but once you get here, it feels like holy writ. Ever since gambling was legalized in Nevada in the 1930s—and especially following the postwar boom years, when shady characters like Bugsy Siegel and Meyer Lansky were running the show—visitors have been heading to this unlikely desert metropolis to have the kind of fun they can’t find back home. It’s the city of showgirls, neon, sky-high hotels, and mile-long buffets, where anything can happen and anything goes and it somehow always feels like 3 a.m.

    Las Vegas

    Climate Edit

Las Vegas has an arid climate with sunny, dry, and extremely hot summers. The July average high is 40°C (104°F), but with low humidity. This low humidity does help temperature feel not as hot as it otherwise would at these levels, but never-the-less, it is still hot. Night time lows are usually in the high 20s Celsius (80s Fahrenheit).

Winter is much cooler with daytime highs averaging around 15°C (60°F), and nighttime lows averaging about 4°C (40°F). During winter, a cold spell may set in for several days. Snowfall is quite rare in the metropolitan area itself, but the mountains surrounding the valley are topped with snow during the winter. This allows for skiing and snowboarding. These activities are available in winter with a short drive to the northwest at Mount Charleston.

    Weather in Las Vegas

Pulsing out of the sands like a neon-lit mirage, Las Vegas is the world s capital of gambling, with 24-hour excess and glitzy entertainment also reigning. Nowhere throws a party quite like Vegas, which has long been known as a centre of decadence that gives plenty of bang for your buck. But in recent years, it has been developing more of a luxury feel, with world-class restaurants and more elegant hotels cropping up.

As a fantasy-island escape from the real world , the self-styled city (out on its own near Nevada s southern tip) is almost beyond comparison. The electric frenzy of The Strip flows through the centre of an adult playground of epic proportions. Since gambling was introduced here in the 1930s, Las Vegas has gone through several phases to reach today s realm of sprawling hotel-casino complexes crowding the skyline.

Classier options have emerged in the city of late, with a slew of Michelin-starred gour ... Read more »

    Introduction

Las Vegas, the largest city in the state and one of the fastest growing areas in the country, is Nevada's claim to fame. Dominating the southern tip of the state, this over-the-top mecca for gamblers and vacationers is stuffed to the gills with extravagant entertainment, multimillion dollar light shows, and enough playing cards and dice to reach to the moon. Expensive cuisine, the hottest dance clubs, live celebrities nightly, unbeatable hotel deals: it's easy to get overwhelmed by it all, which may be exactly the point.

While Vegas has long been considered an "adults only" destination, in the 1990s the city began to branch out and develop more family-friendly entertainment. Theme park rides, zoos and aquariums, arcades, and other less sinful pursuits entice mom and dad to bring the kids along on their Vegas vacation. That said, the majority of attractions in town are still geared at adults, with street barkers still advertising toples ... Read more »
