Whether you choose to book your flight through the airline's website or the website of a travel agent or discount travel provider, the process is virtually the same. Before you can complete your transaction, you must provide a variety of information about yourself.

Basic Information

Buying an airline ticket requires you to provide details about the trip itself. When booking online, whether you use a site such as Travelocity (travelocity.com) or an airline such as Southwest Airlines (southwest.com), the first information you need to provide is the date of your flight, the date of the return flight, if applicable, the departure and arrival airports, and the number of travelers for whom you wish to buy tickets.
