#answer the question

#How to answer the question: Am I dying?

Matthew O’Reilly is an emergency medical technician in New York. He knows what it s like to be asked by a patient, “Am I dying?” and what to do when the answer is, Yes.

A cruel consequence of being alive and aware is the ability to understand that someday it all must end. While death may be inevitable, it isn’t something most of us like to think about, except as a far-off event, peacefully drifting away in bed surrounded by loved ones.

But that isn’t the end that everyone gets. And at the front line of every sudden fatal illness or deadly accident, often, is a medical professional   the doctor by the beeping hospital bed, the first responder at the scene of a crash. These women and men are faced with the difficult job of telling a patient that they will soon die. Not might. But will. How do they know when to disclose such a thing? How do they know how to act?

#Ask.com 1996 to Present

Ask.com - Succeed Through Branding Or Innovation? Ask Has Had A Difficult Time Making Up Their Minds.

Big picture: We like Ask because they keep trying to do something different. We also like that they started in business in 1996, the same year we started. But they area always coming up frustratingly short in our minds.

The whole idea behind Ask.com s marketing efforts is that they make searching simple. Unfortunately, in several ways, Ask makes searching frustrating. Especially frustrating are the six paid sponsor matches that appear at the top of each search result page against a barely visible light blue background. Basically, if you set your monitor at the standard 800x600 resolution, all you will see are advertisements when you do a search at Ask.com. You have to scroll down to see the real search results.

The good: You used to be able to pay Ask to get your pages indexed. You paid a company called INeedHits. P ... Read more »

#citizenship exam questions

#Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Is this website an official government site?

No. This website was setup to help people prepare for the canadian citizenship test only and contains study material and practice questions.

2. How this website can help me pass the test first time?

The site contains official study materials and more than 600 practice questions. Read the "Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship" guide, which is available on the site and then attend our practice questions. Similar to the original test practice tests contain 20 questions and you will have 30 minuties to complete. You can practice these tests as many times as you like. They are 600 questions because we think these are the maximum possible questions from the study guide. Some other websites offer over 1000 questions, but they actually have only 300 and repeat them couple times.

#Best Day to Shop for Airfare? Tuesday.

I hear a lot of myths about supposedly fiendish airlines hiding or holding ultra-cheap airline tickets until a secret midnight hour when only those-in-the-know can take advantage. Baloney!

LISTEN: Rick Seaney deals in facts, not myths.

Best Day to Shop:

If you re shopping in the U.S. for domestic fares, you want to be shopping on Tuesday.

Best Time to Shop:

The optimum time is Tuesday at about 3 p.m. eastern time. If you re on the West Coast, that would be Noon PT.

What Makes This the Best Day and Time?

Airlines typically launch sales late Monday or very early the next day, and we start seeing them Tuesday morning. Other airlines ones that compete on the same routes as the sale-launching carriers then swing into action to match their competitors fares. It s not because they re nice guys, it s because they want your business too and don t w ... Read more »

#Best Time and Website for Buying Airline Tickets

Clark Howard Wednesday, November 5 th 2014

Every day I'm asked, "What's the best time to buy an airline ticket, and what's the best website to do it on?" I've got some new answers to share with you.

The Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC), which is like the back office of ticket selling for the nation's airlines, has monitored data continually over a 19-month period and found that the magic time to buy a ticket is generally 8 weeks before you travel.

Try booking an airline ticket on this day.

So the latest ARC study suggests the old advice of booking 42 days before your departure has shifted to 57 days before travel.

Meanwhile, there's always the question of what's the best day to buy an airline ticket? Conventional wisdom held that it was Tuesday.

Not so anymore, says ARC. Their new recommendation is bo ... Read more »

#Airline website booking traps - travel

Air tariff control

Last updated: 1st November 2013

Found a cheap flight online that's almost too good to be true? It probably is.

"Drip pricing" is used to suck in consumers by advertising cheap headline rates, before automatically adding on fees and charges such as credit card surcharges, travel insurance, car hire, checked baggage and carbon offsets when you try to pay online. Many airlines bombard you with lengthy forms, often pre-checked to include unnecessary optional extras.

Jetstar

Jetstar 's online booking system is inconsistent. Consumers must opt in to agree to terms and conditions, prepaid parking and SMS itineraries. But they must opt out of loyalty club membership, seat selection and checked baggage (so make sure you click the right box if you've only got carry-on luggage).

CHOICE staff member Linda Magee recently booked a family trip with Jetstar. While the fare seemed cheap at ... Read more »

#Airline - Airfare News

September 2012. You know, I started this site 12 years ago. I was new at making informational websites and I didn't factor in how much things would change, requiring me to always make updates to this site. Ugh.

Over the years as new search engines have appeared and built the better mousetrap, I've moved them to the #1 position in my recommendations. But sometimes they don't last (Qixo comes to mind), or they sit still feature-wise (like Orbitz) and other sites leapfrog them.

So now there's a new kid of the block, Hipmunk . What's so special about it? Its list of flights is so compact and efficient it's just a joy to behold. You can view (and easily comprehend) lots of flight info without scrolling. It's the better mousetrap, for sure. And for that reason, it's all the rage.

But it's not all smiles and cupcakes. Once you want to search for flexible dates, the output is no longer quite as pretty. And your options for search ... Read more »

Today at the International Housewares Show in Chicago, Cuisinart has introduced a new multitasking small appliance called the Velocity Ultra Trio 1 HP Blender/Food Processor with Travel Cups. The gizmo is set to cost $149 -- international pricing and availability has not been announced.

As its name suggests, it was built to tackle blending as well as food processing. The Velocity (model number BFP-650) isn't the brand's first hybrid kitchen device, but none of the similar Cuisinart models offer travel cups too.

For your money, you'll get a 56-ounce plastic blender jar, two 16-ounce to-go cups and a 3-cup food processor designed to slice, shred, puree and chop all of the stuff that the blender's shorter blades might not be able to reach. #Travel to russia

Tourists / Visitors Travelling In Russia

Here are some tips from a first time visitor to Russia.

In winter, bring some good shoes with good traction. Sweeping of ice and snow from walks is spotty in Moscow and Kazan and it is easy to slip.  The Russians seem just to truck through it all. Also, steps in buildings can be uneven and there are unexpected changes in level in the floors in some buildings. Watch your step.

Russian outlets take round 2-pin Euro plugs. A flat Euro plug adapter did not fit into the socket.  Current is 220V.

Buildings and cars tend to be overheated. Not always obvious how to adust the heat in the hotel room.

Almost all signs are only in Russian. Familiarize yourself with the alphabet before arriving so you will feel a little less lost.

Crosswalks are only respected sometimes. Be careful crossing streets.

Many people in the tourist trades speak some English but most people don't.

Able to both confound and exceed expectations in equal measure, Cuba is an endlessly fascinating place. The archetypal tableau of revolutionary rhetoric, breathtaking beaches, classic cars gliding past faded colonial buildings and a population who dance on an endless ribbon of salsa and rum does of course exist, but for those prepared to dig beneath the dazzling surface, Cuba relinquishes so much more. Art Deco architecture peeks between the crumbling mansions; unobtrusive art galleries are filled with exciting contemporary art to rival the scenes of London, Los Angeles and New York; private restaurants hidden in backstreets throughout the country nudge Cuba towards the upper echelons of fine dining experiences; while a programme of arts festivals sees internationally renowned ballerinas, musicians and actors delight audiences for the modest reward of a state salary. Delve into the countryside and you’ll find cloudforests and mountain ranges, birdwatching trails ripe fo ... Read more »

#Europe Travel: Best Money-Saving Tips

T+L gives you the lowdown on how to plan an affordable trip to Europe that stays within your budget.

American travelers may have felt betrayed by their national currency over the past five years, but the dollar is finally gaining some ground. Its value against the euro increased 9.2 percent between January 2010 and January 2012.

Pair a stronger dollar with unsteady European economies, as well as growing tourist markets and emerging destinations, and the happy conclusion is this: Europe travel can be affordable again, and not always where you expect it. Follow Travel + Leisure to the European destinations where you’ll find the most bang for your buck this year.

In Berlin, a slew of new hotels—the city currently has 30,000 more hotel beds than New York City—is creating competition and driving down prices (the average room rate is about $111 per night). And here’s a money-saving tip: Berlin recently introduced the ... Read more »

Yes, Amsterdam has its hash-selling coffee shops, but they are just a small part of this city. This famous port is studded with historic canals and bridges. Top tourist destinations include the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, the Waterlloplein flea market, and the floating flower market.

A trip for the senses, Catalonia's capital city, Barcelona, has a distinctly Mediterranean feel. Revitalized for the 1992 Olympics, this picturesque city is one of Europe's best-loved vacation destinations. The well-preserved Gothic Quarter, Gaudí's delightfully cheeky architecture, and galleries with the treasures of Miró, Tápies, and Picasso make Barcelona visually stunning, both indoors and out.

For a bird's-eye view of London, take a spin on the London Eye, the large Ferris wheel overlooking the Thames. An English vacation isn't complete wi ... Read more »

#Find Overseas Travel Alerts

What You Need to Know

Travel alerts and warnings are maintained by the U.S. Department of State and are a resource for international travelers to consider for safe travel overseas.

Start Here

Travel Alerts are issued to disseminate information about short-term conditions, either transnational or within a particular country, that pose significant risks to the security of U.S. citizens. Natural disasters, terrorist attacks, coups, anniversaries of terrorist events, election-related demonstrations or violence, and high-profile events such as international conferences or regional sports events are examples of conditions that might generate a Travel Alert.

Travel Warnings are issued when long-term, protracted conditions that make a country dangerous or unstable lead the State Department to recommend that Americans avoid or consider the risk of travel to that country. A Travel Warning is als ... Read more »

#Explore Travel Nursing - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about Travel Nurse Jobs

Miscellaneous Questions

Travel Nurse Basics
1. What are the requirements for becoming a travel nurse?

The minimum experience requirements depend on your area of specialty, the facility, unit and sometimes even the location. The facilities we work with have different requirements and preferences, but the majority request a minimum of 18 months of experience. For some specialties such as Med-Surg, Psych and Rehab, the minimum can be as high as two years, and for LPN/LVN the minimum is typically six years.

Someone who is flexible, has a positive outlook, is eager to learn new skills and enjoys a new adventure makes an excellent travel nurse.  Travel RN's should have excellent clinical skills and be able to adapt to a new clinical setting quickly and easily.

Most hospital hiring managers are familiar with the travel health care industry and wil ... Read more »

#Travelling by train is all an adventure!

Travelling by train is often the most efficient way to get around.

Below we will give you 10 magnificient reasons why you should travel by train!

Photograph. Melinda Moore / Getty Images / Flickr Open

Picture. Bernina Express, St Moritz, Switzerland to Tirano, Italy

  1. Money Savings. Trains are an increasingly cost-effective alternative to planes. In the UK and some other countries you can easily find train travel deals or discounts, for example, when booking your online ticket in advance (you can book train tickets up to 12 weeks in advance) or when doing group bookings (for 4 people or more).
  2. Stable Fares. Airlines’ pricing changes every minute and it can be really frustrating. Train fares, however, tend to remain stable, day after day on any particular route, whether it s Monday or Saturday, April or August, two months in advance ... Read more »

#Google challenges Kayak, Bing Travel with new flight search tool

Got email marketing? We've got best practices from LivingSocial and estate sale guru Everything But The House in our next Insight webinar.

Google on Tuesday launched a new flight search tool that integrates with Google search and will challenge Bing Travel and ticket-finding sites like Kayak and Orbitz.

The new flight search tool is powered by ITA Software, which Google finished acquiring in April. When Google announced its intention to purchase ITA in July 2010, it said it wanted to create a new, easier way for users to find better flight information online. Since that time, travel sites and Bing s search engine have improved to offer new features. But of course, Google has the advantage of being the number one search engine and one of the most used sites on the Web.

Google said that, starting today, people searching for flight information on Google will now have a Flights tab that appears on ... Read more »

#Gulliver - s Travels - A Book Review

I am still on the classics kick as you can see! After the mammoth Bleak House, I thought the relatively slim Gulliver s Travels would be a cakewalk. Not true at all! In some ways, this was a more challenging read.

Anyway, on to the synopsis:

Gulliver s Travels really is a compilation of 4 different journeys:

  • Journey to Liiliput
  • Journey to Brobdingnag
  • Journey to Laputa, Balnibarbi, Luggnagg, Gluggdubdrib and Japan
  • Journey to the land of the Houyhnhnms

Lilliput: This is the most popular story, and one that I read (an abridged version) in childhood. Of course at that time, the satire went completely over my head. This time, things were a lot more understandable. In this story, Gulliver gets shipwrecked onto an island occupied by miniature people. These people are very similar to our own with the same vices we have. And Swift uses ... Read more »

#Greece travel advice.

Latest update: Summary Money Sections - Clarification of daily withdrawal limits from ATMs

The currency of Greece is the euro. When travelling outside of the UK, you should take more than one means of payment with you (cash, debit card, credit card). Visitors to Greece should be aware of the possibility that banking services – including credit card processing and servicing of ATMs – throughout Greece could potentially become limited at short notice.

The government of Greece announced on 28 June an extended bank closure until at least close of business on 6 July. The Greek government is limiting withdrawals using cards issued by Greek banks to €60 per day. At this time, you can continue to withdraw cash using your card as normal, up to the daily limit imposed by the Greek banking system (usually €600), or the daily limit imposed by your card issuer - whichever is the lower amount, as long as the ATM has been replenished. The system for paying wi ... Read more »

#Health in Nicaragua - Lonely Planet

Most visitors to Nicaragua travel without incident; however, as a developing nation with poor infrastructure and a tropical climate there are certain medical conditions to be aware of to avoid an unnecessary visit to the doctor.

Stomach problems and diarrhea are the result of bacteria, viruses and parasites which may be present in contaminated food and water. Many other illnesses affecting travelers, such as infected bug bites, rashes and heat exhaustion, are the result of Nicaragua's tropical climate.

Other more serious diseases are carried by infected mosquitoes. Bring clothes that provide protection against bites and repellent.

Drinking Water

Tap water is potable in cities and larger towns but should be avoided in rural areas and throughout the Región Autónoma Atlántico Sur (South Atlantic Autonomous Region; RAAS) and Región Autónoma Atlántico Norte (North Atlantic Autonomous Region; RAAN). In cheaper restaura ... Read more »

#Here - s the best time to buy airline tickets in 2015
Obsession

Travelers are endlessly seeking ways to crack the code of erratic airline pricing in search of the cheapest fare. A recent report (pdf) by online travel search engine Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Corporation offers some answers.

Tuesday has long been considered the best day of the week to book tickets for all airlines because airlines often announce deals on Monday evenings, so by Tuesday, other airlines are scrambling to match those deals. With at least three weeks notice, Expedia found that on average, Tuesday is still the golden day by a slim margin, offering fares that are $28 cheaper on average.

But there are more refined ways to game the system. Airfares change minute by minute and day by day, so merely searching by day of the week won t necessarily result in the cheapest airfare. A better strategy is to settle on a travel window and check fares several times a day.

#Health Information for Travelers to India - Traveler view

Vaccines and Medicines

You should be up to date on routine vaccinations while traveling to any destination. Some vaccines may also be required for travel.

Get travel vaccines and medicines because there is a risk of these diseases in the country you are visiting.

Ask your doctor what vaccines and medicines you need based on where you are going, how long you are staying, what you will be doing, and if you are traveling from a country other than the US.

You may need this vaccine if your trip will last more than a month, depending on where you are going in India and what time of year you are traveling. You should also consider this vaccine if you plan to visit rural areas in India or will be spending a lot of time outdoors, even for trips shorter than a month. Your doctor can help you decide if this vaccine is right for you based on your travel plans. See more in-depth information on ... Read more »
