How to find airlines Black Friday, Cyber Monday deals

Black Friday and Cyber Monday aren't just for buying toys, clothes and jewelry anymore. Hotels, resorts, cruise lines and online travel sites such as Expedia, Priceline and Travelocity are also trumpeting their holiday sales.

And so are some airlines.

For the Thanksgiving doorbuster sale that kicked off at 5 a.m. Thursday morning, Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air sold 60 seats for $30 one-way on select routes. Its Cyber Monday sale starts Dec. 2 at 5 a.m. and some one-way fares will be selling for $59. Additional restrictions, of course, apply.

Cathay Pacific's countdown clock to Black Friday has been promising deals "bigger and better than ever!" Take a tour of those offers if Hong Kong or one of the other 40 countries the airline flies to is on your 2014 "to do" list.

Virgin America will be holding an 8-hour Black Friday sale with holiday and winter fares starting from $49 each way (restrictions apply).

Heading into the weekend, other airlines weren't sharing much about their holiday offers. But in past years many airlines offered last-minute flash sales for great deals on a limited number of seats.

Department of Transportation regulations prohibit airlines from sharing pricing and promotional details before the actual promotion, but JetBlue spokeswoman Tamara Young said "we did offer a Cyber Monday deal last year, so customers should stay tuned to JetBlue.com for our latest promotion offerings."
