Europe Travel Insurance

Europe travel insurance is required if you are traveling to many countries in Europe, especially the Schengen countries. Schengen countries (such as France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and many more) will not even issue a Schengen visa unless you provide proof of adequate insurance that meets the minimum requirements of Schengen travel insurance.

As a typical traveler to Europe would travel to multiple countries, he/she was earlier required to get a visa for each country, and that was inconvenient. However, the Schengen visa allows you to visit 26 countries (more may be added later) with just one visa. However, in order to get a Schengen visa, you must first acquire Schengen visa insurance.

Many people who live in the U.S. already get the health insurance through their employer, spouse's employer or by other means. That insurance may or may not provide coverage outside the U.S. Even if it provides coverage outside the U.S. it may be only emergency coverage. There may be a higher deductible and coinsurance (out of pocket expenses). Even in that case, they will not cover the emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains which are required by the Schengen travel insurance requirements set by the embassies/consulates. Additionally, you require a visa letter from the insurance company that indicates that you have adequate insurance that meets the minimum requirements.

Fortunately, Atlas International Insurance meets all the standard requirements of the Schengen visa insurance. It provides medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains.

As many travelers are not aware of the requirements of Schengen travel insurance, they ask for the proof of insurance at the last moment. Fortunately, we have the technology where you can make an instant purchase online and within 15 minutes, you can download and print the official visa letter on the insurance company's letterhead and the officer's signature. You can present that letter to the Europe embassy/consulate where you will be applying for visa. That letter is accepted as the sufficient proof of Europe travel insurance.

Even if some consulate requires a specific letter which is different than the standard letter provided, it may be possible for us to get one in most cases. Please read the FAQ about Custom Visa Letters for more information. In short, if there is really a requirement that you need to fulfill, we have most likely dealt with it and can efficiently handle it. Otherwise, most likely, there is no such requirement.

If you are going to be doing any hazardous activities while traveling to Europe such as Skiing in the Alps, this plan is even more attractive as it providers hazardous sports coverage at no extra cost, in case you get sick or injured while doing such activities. It provides a lot of value and peace of mind while enjoy such sports activities in Europe.
