Why travel to Greece?

Why travel to Greece? Really loved by people, this country is so rich in culture and beauty that it never seems to be fully explored, no matter how many times you come for holidays. Travelling in Italy

Once in Italy, trains, automobiles, and to some extent coaches and buses, can be used to get around.

The railway system is good and inexpensive. Owned by the state, it’s called Ferrovie dello Stato (abbreviated FS), but trains are operated under the  brand name "Trenitalia". Most trains carry  first  and second class.  First class seats often recline, there are fewer seats per car, and there is more space for luggage. On some Premier Trains, the price of a first class ticket includes a meal. Second class accommodations are less expensive, but not as spacious, as there are more seats per car.  Seat reservation is now compulsory on faster trains (i.e. Eurostar, EuroStarCity, and InterCity).  On other, slower categories of trains (Regionale, Suburbano) it is not possible to reserve seats.  Purchase your train ticket before getting on the train, and stamp it before boarding at one of those small yellow machines on platforms.  Traveli ... TRAVELLING

As for me I prefer to learn about the world travelling.

Millions people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene. It's always interesting to discover new things and different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different music.

Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. City residents usually like a quiet holiday by the sea and in the mountains with nothing to do but walk and bathe and lay in the sun. Most travelers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interest them - the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plain ... Traveling the World for 9 Months on Under $10,000

    Written by Wilson Cusack

Last January I was in my senior year of high school and, after finishing my college applications, decided to begin exploring alternative options for the next year. I had a desire to see and understand the world's problems for myself, and a deeper religious obligation to be a part of the solutions. That, set alongside the realization that the people and organizations I wanted to work with were only an email away, was enough to get me searching.

After looking at different options, I was accepted to a fellowship that would facilitate an entire gap-year for me. I was excited about it, but it seemed to be sort of a backwards fellowship, one in which I had to pay them: to the tune of around $20,000.

After several conversations I came to the realization that I could put together my own "gap-year", work with people and organizations whom I personally chose, ... Read more »

Or know which neighborhoods to visit (and which to avoid) without a handy phone travel guide? And don't forget everyone needs social media apps to share experiences with friends.

While your smartphone can help you keep in touch and stay street smart while traveling abroad, the costs of international roaming, data and messaging can make staying connected very expensive (just ask this guy ). That's why our friends at T-Mobile added global data coverage in over 100 countries at no extra cost to their Simple Choice plan .

So, now that it won't break the bank to stay safe and make sure everyone knows your trip is going a-OK, we teamed up with T-M ... Read more »

    browse poems poets

On April 7, 1770, William Wordsworth was born in Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. Wordsworth's mother died when he was eight—this experience shapes much of his later work. Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammar School, where his love of poetry was firmly established and, it is believed, he made his first attempts at verse. While he was at Hawkshead, Wordsworth's father died leaving him and his four siblings orphans. After Hawkshead, Wordsworth studied at St. John's College in Cambridge and before his final semester, he set out on a walking tour of Europe, an experience that influenced both his poetry and his political sensibilities. While touring Europe, Wordsworth came into contact with the French Revolution. This experience as well as a subsequent period living in France, brought about Wordsworth's interest and sympathy for the life, troubles, and speech of the "common man." These issues proved to be of the utmost importance to Wordsworth's wo ... Read more »

    travel

The word travel has come to exemplify a common spelling quandary: to double or not to double the final consonant of a verb before adding the ending that forms the past tense ( –ed ) or the ending that forms the present-participle ( –ing. ) We see it done both ways—sometimes with the same word ( travel, traveled, traveling; travel, travelled, travelling ). As readers, we accept these variations without even thinking about them. But as writers, we need to know just when we should double that final consonant and when we should not. Because American practice differs slightly from British practice, there is no one answer. But there are well-established conventions.

In American writing, when you have a one-syllable verb that ends with a single vowel followed by a single consonant, and you want to add a regular inflectional ending that begins with a vowel, you double that final consonant before adding -ed or -ing. stop, stopped, stopping; flag, flagged, ... Chris Stapleton

A rare gem of country music

    by sk8kow

You might not have known it, but Chris Stapleton has probably already been sung out of your lips or atleast heard in your ear already.

He has been a song writing machine throughout his career and now it's his official solo record debut.

I'm gonna try to keep this short. His voice is unmatched. His lyrics are true country. And his music will captivate you in so many ways. He is the total package that has stayed pure to country.

You can YouTube a lot of these songs right now. Parachute - Tennessee Whiskey - Fire Away - Whiskey And You - When The Stars Come Out - Traveller - Was It 26 and Sometimes I Cry are all out there waiting to be heard.

Chris is a rare gem amongst unoriginal and uninspired talent that floods country radio these days. If you want soul, wrapped in authentic sound and laced with a unique blend of old and new. You will want to check this album, and C ... Read more »

    Hi Everyone,

We moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand about 8 months ago. We had an awfully hard time getting straight answers about shipping our cat to Thailand. We decided to write an in depth post that should prove helpful for anyone that wants a one stop place to prepare themselves and their pet for airline travel.

Make sure you try to lock down a solid travel date 2 months in advance to allow you time to take care of all of the required tasks.

We link to official forms, include important contact info, required exams, vaccinations, and preferred airlines, as well as pet friendly hotels. Hopefully this helps prospective expats out there. If you have any questions at all post here or comment on the post and we will be more than happy to help. We have been there before and know what you are going through! Best of luck ... Read more »

    Travelling in Greece 2013

unfortunately, a lot of rumors about the economy crisis in Greece had made and continue makes bad to our country, last year there was a rumor that tourists of Greece will not be able to find cash at the ATMs or that all the restaurants will remain closed due to the economical crisis, something that was untrue and hope that anyone can confirm that from this forum, who traveled last year in Greece.

This financial crisis has a toll and yes shops have closed, i doubt though you ll notice anything in Plaka.

    Getting Cheap Flights to Turkey

Turkey is a beautiful country located in both Europe and Asia, and as such, it features elements of both Western and Asian cultures. Book cheap flights to Turkey using ebookers, and you can save on flights, hotels, and car rental.

    The Cities of Turkey

Turkey boasts seven cities with populations over one million. Istanbul is the largest, and it is often-incorrectly-regarded as the capital of Turkey. Istanbul stands on the threshold of Europe and Asia, and the former capital of the Byzantine Empire is well connected to both continents. Ankara is the actual capital, and it lies in the centre of Turkey. It used to be called Angora, and it is where Angora wool originated. Izmir is on the west coast of Turkey, and it is a major port. Bursa, a major car manufacturing area, is just below Istanbul. The other three cities are Adana, which is in the south, Gaziantep, located 40 miles f ... Read more »

    Get on Board in Turkey

Turkey is the European gateway to Asia, and probably one of the most exciting and romantic countries in the world, even for the most ho-hum traveler.

Istanbul was once the end-station of the Orient-Express, taking travelers from London and Paris to the Bosphorus Strait, one of the world s most strategic waterways. Today, there are services from Beograd, Thessaloniki, Bucharest, or Sofia. Allow a good twenty hours for these trips (sixteen for Thessaloniki). The Istanbul station (also known as Haydarpasa) still exudes the grandeur of its early days, but don t expect anything resembling luxury services.

Trains are not an ideal way to experience Turkey (bus is preferred), as train travel is slow, and limited. However, there are a couple of routes where trains are a very viable, safe option: Ankara to Istanbul, and lines on the European side. Moreover, the anticipated completion of the Istanbul to Ankara hi-spe ... Read more »

A mesmerizing mix of the exotic and the familiar, Turkey is much more than its clichéd image of a “bridge between East and West”. Invaded and settled from every direction since the start of recorded history, it combines influences from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, the Balkans and Central Asia. Mosques coexist with churches, Roman theatres and temples crumble near ancient Hittite cities, and dervish ceremonies and gypsy festivals are as much a part of the social landscape as classical music concerts or football matches.

The friendliness of the Turkish people makes visiting a pleasure; indeed you risk causing offence by declining invitations, and find yourself making friends through the simplest of transactions. At the big resorts and tourist spots, of course, this can merely be an excuse to sell you something, but elsewhere, despite a history in which outsiders have so often brought trouble, the warmth and generosity are genuine.

The Mediterranean coastline is punctuated with well-preserved Greco-Roman cities like Pergamom and Ephesus. while the otherworldly landscapes of the Cappadocia region harbour cave churches and underground cities.

    U.S. Issues Worldwide Travel Alert

    BRADLEY KLAPPER

WASHINGTON The United States issued an extraordinary global travel warning to Americans Friday about the threat of an al-Qaida attack and closed down 21 embassies and consulates across the Muslim world for the weekend.

The alert was the first of its kind since an announcement preceding the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. This one comes with the scars still fresh from last year's deadly Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, and with the Obama administration and Congress determined to prevent any similar breach of an American Embassy or consulate.

"There is a significant threat stream and we're reacting to it," said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He told ABC News in an interview to be aired Sunday that the threat was "more specific" than previous ones and the "intent is to attack Western, not just U.S. interests."

Use a Fake Location to Get Cheaper Plane Tickets

I can’t explain airline pricing but I do know some plane tickets can be cheaper depending on where you buy them or, even better, where you appear to buy them from. This is all about leveraging foreign currencies and points-of-sale to your advantage.

For reasons I never quite understood, every time I tried to book a domestic flight in another country, the prices were always exorbitant. But, say, once I was in Bangkok, that same flight that was once $300 would fall to $30 almost inexplicably. This phenomenon is because a ticket’s point-of-sale —the place where a retail transaction is completed—can affect the price of any flight with an international component.

Most people don’t know there is a simple trick for “changing” this to get a cheaper flight on an airline s website ; it’s how I managed to pay $371 for a flight from New York to Colombia instead of $500+. Thou ... Read more »
