Singles Travel

Singles are welcome on every river cruise we offer, though river cruise companies generally require single travelers to pay a single supplement for a private cabin. Some companies help travelers avoid the single supplement with a singles share program, where participants are matched with a roommate of the same gender, or by offering limited-time promotions that reduce or waive the single supplement.

Below are the current offers for singles, followed by a list of each company's policy regarding single travelers.

Upon request, Abercrombie & Kent will make every effort to arrange shared accommodations for single travelers. If the request cannot be honored, a single supplement will apply.

Alexander+Roberts (First Class or Deluxe)

Single travelers pay a single supplement, as no single share program is available.

Single travelers pay 150 to 175% of the double occupancy rate, depending on the type of stateroom.

A limited number of single occupancy cabins are available. Alternatively, guests may pay a single supplement of 200% of the published stateroom fare, based on availability.

Avalon Waterways (First Class or Deluxe)

Avalon Waterways will match single travelers with a roommate of the same gender in select cabin categories. The share program is not available on all river cruises. Single travelers who do not wish to share a cabin will pay the single supplement.

Blount offers a limited selection of cabins for single occupancy. Single travelers also have the option of paying a single supplement rate of 175% of the double occupancy rate. A "Willing to Share" program is offered for people willing to be paired with a same-gender traveling companion; if no companion can be found, you will be placed alone in a double occupancy cabin.

Collette (First Class or Deluxe)

Single guests who are willing to share accommodations with another participant must advise Collette at the time of booking. The single supplement is charged initially. If, two weeks prior to the day of departure, another guest is willing to share accommodations, the single supplement will be refunded.

Contiki will match single travelers with a roommate of the same gender. Single travelers who do not wish to share a room will pay the single supplement.

Single travelers pay a single supplement on all vessels except those with single cabins. European Waterways reserves the right to accept a maximum of two cabins for single occupancy for any single cruise.

Most of G Adventures' trips do not have a single supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if you are traveling on your own, you will be sharing a room with another G Adventures traveler of the same sex. Some tours, however, have an optional single supplement or occasionally a mandatory single supplement. You can ask your travel counselor about this when you inquire about the tour you are interested in taking.

Gate 1 Travel (First Class or Deluxe)

Insight will match single travelers with a roommate of the same gender. Single travelers who do not wish to share a room will pay the single supplement.

Most Intrepid Travel trips do not have a single supplement. This means that the accommodation is on a twin share basis and, if you are traveling on your own, you will be sharing a room with another traveler of the same sex. Some tours, however, have an optional single supplement or occasionally a mandatory single supplement. You can ask your travel counselor about this when you inquire about the tour you are interested in taking.

SITA Tours (First Class or Deluxe)

A tour member occupying a single room, either by choice or by circumstance, will pay a single supplement. Quoted single room rate does not necessarily mean single occupancy of a double room, as some hotels and riverboats have single-occupancy accommodations.

Tauck (Deluxe)

Reservations are accepted as "single share if possible." The single supplement is charged initially; upon departure, if another guest is willing to share accommodations, the single supplement will be refunded.

Trafalgar (First Class or Deluxe)

Trafalgar will match single travelers with a roommate of the same gender. Single travelers who do not wish to share a room will pay the single supplement.

Uniworld (First Class or Deluxe)

Uniworld will match single travelers with a roommate of the same gender in select cabin categories. Single travelers who do not wish to share a cabin will pay the single supplement.

Limited single cabins are available at 150% of the per person double occupancy cruise price for the lowest category, and 200% for all other categories.

Single travelers have the option of sharing with a roommate of the same gender. Single travelers who do not wish to share will pay a single supplement. Single travelers are required to share on overnight cruises and rail journeys; in these circumstances, roommates may not be Wendy Wu Tours passengers.
