GLO Airlines announces nonstop flights between Memphis, New Orleans

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

New Orleans is the latest non-stop flight that will be leaving the Memphis International Airport.

GLO Airlines has touched down in Memphis, starting nonstop daily flights between Memphis and New Orleans. The airport released preliminary details of the flights in September, but Monday GLO updated new details about the upcoming flights.

I think it's great, traveler Brent Fleetwood said. We need to add some more options to fly and New Orleans is a great place to do a direct flight.

The flights are going to be just $99 until February 1.

They will be the first flights between the two destinations since Delta left in December 2014.

Tourists will not be the only ones benefiting.

To add another market to what we have in Memphis makes it that much easier for us to recruit businesses to Memphis, Phil Trenary of the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce said.

That includes one business traveler who makes deliveries every December 25.

I was just speaking with my niece this morning. She lives in Germantown. She was concerned that Santa would not be able to find his way to Memphis, traveler Amanda Bladt said. I think GLO will be a really good chance to keep all the kids happy this Christmas season.

GLO is the eleventh carrier to fly out of Memphis International Airport.
