Most residents of the Dominican Republic speak Spanish, the country s official language. You will have no problems with English at your hotel or resort and in most tourist districts, as workers in such areas speak moderate to fluent English. If you venture outside the tourist areas, expect little to no understanding of English. In such cases, you may wish to bring a Spanish-English dictionary.
