In short, we were delighted with almost all aspects of the cruise, and really enjoyed the experience.

I am struggling to find anything critical to say. The ship stood up to its reputation as a luxury vessel, and we found the crew extremely attentive and helpful (even though the wait staff probably still have a few finer details to learn, they were lovely people, who worked really hard).

We were very happy with our cabin, and couldn't see that those cabins with a narrow balcony would have been any better, except for the ability to keep the view window clean.

The food and wine were excellent with very few exceptions, and there were plenty of alternatives. We enjoyed the mix of guests (and were surprised by the number of Australians on board).

We could have been luckier with our polar bear sightings (two, at a distance), but the bird life was great, and we accept that the paucity of bears was something one should expect at that time of year. The crew and ship certainly made every effort to get close to the ones we saw.

The lectures and guides were of high standard, and were very approachable. The two excursions a day most days is a pretty good achievement, though the requirement to split excursions into two "shifts" is frustrating and could probably be solved by using a couple of extra Zodiacs and drivers (our Antarctic excursions were better, but I guess they don't have polar bears to contend with.)

We had a great time, thanks. Would we choose Silver Explorer again? You bet.
